Chapter 2
He walked with me along the
pavement. The rain was still very light,
yet there were still puddles. Dan
accidentally stepped in one.
"Hey!" I chuckled.
"What?"
"You got me wet!" I said laughing.
"That's what she said!" He nudged my
arm.
"Ew nasty!" I laughed and shoved him
playfully. He grinned.
"Is this it?" He asked me as we
approached the building.
"Sure is."
He held the door for me and I walked
in. I put my hood down and walked to
the lady at the counter. She was
probably about 17. She had brown hair
and false eyelashes. She looked at Dan
and blushed. It made me mad, to be
honest.
"Pick up for Jade Parker." I told her.
She looked at the names and found
mine. She scanned the barcode and
handed me the bag with the bottle
inside.
"That'd be £20.28."
I reached in my wallet, but Dan beat
me to it. He handed her the money and
she gave him the change.
"Have a nice day." She smiled at Dan,
who didn't even notice her. He was too
busy staring at me. We walked out the
door and stepped into the still-raining
weather.
"You didn't have to do that." I told him.
"It's not a big deal. I wanted to pay." He
told me. I chuckled.
"What's funny?" He asked me.
"It's just that normally the guy pays for
dinner, but in our case your paying for
my depression pills. It's an odd kinda
love story if you ask me." I looked at
him.
He grinned at me. "I like this version
better."
I couldn't help but smile at him.
