Chapter 5
"Monroe?" Dan asked me as I was
still snuggled up next to him. "Yes?"
I looked up.
"You told me those pills were
depression pills. Why do you have
depression?" Dan looked
concerned.
"Okay, um, I don't really talk about
this to just anyone. But, about 9
years ago when I was 10, my little
brother Christopher had basketball
practice to go to, so my mum drove
him. It was raining super bad. And
when they were crossing a little
bridge, an oversized truck lost
control and hit their car, sending it
spinning. Both my mum and brother
died." I told him slowly, tearing up.
"I'm so sorry Monroe." Dan said and
sat me in his lap. He put his hand
around my back and pushed my
dark red hair out of my face with his
other hand.
"I shouldn't have asked. I'm sorry." Dan whispered.
"No, it's fine." I told him and
wrapped my arms around his neck.
He looked me in the eyes.
"Your beautiful Monroe." Dan
whispered suddenly.
"Your just saying that." I shook my
head.
"Don't doubt yourself, darling." He
lifted my chin up with his fingers.
I looked at his lips and couldn't help
but bite mine.
"Don't bite your lip." Dan told me.
"Why?"
"Because I can't kiss you if your
biting your lip." He said and I
stopped. In that second, he bent his
face closer to mine and found my
lips.
His lips were soft and warm. He
started out softly, but deepened the
kiss when I grabbed his hair. He
traced my bottom lip with the tip of
his tongue. I couldn't help but let out
a soft whimper. I felt him smile
through the kiss.
We broke apart to catch our breaths.
"How was that for our first kiss?"
Dan laughed.
I smiled at Dan and pecked his lips
once more.
