Not Your Average

Chapter 9

"Hello?" I asked.

None of the lights were on. Who was this?

"I've been waiting for you." the person said. I recognized the voice. The voice in my head said something was wrong, but my gut told me different. "I thought you were gone. Then I heard the news."

For once I listened to my head. I quickly went silver and turned my first into a knife. I walked towards the person. Then quickly they turned on the lights. At first I was blinded, but soon my vision cleared.

"Karman." he said.

"Daniel!" I screamed. I gave him a huge hug. Tears were streaming down my face.

"Oh my god! I missed you! I thought I would have to leave my old life behind!"

All of a sudden we broke the hug. Wet were looking right into each other's eyes. Before I knew it my eyes were closed and we kissed.

"Karman, I thought you were dead. My first partner, my first friend from work. Gone, right before my eyes. The doctors tried everything to save you. They just couldn't. Apparently according to your surgery records you died. Then after surgery, the doctors started noticing things, and S.H.I.E.L.D took you."

"So you're still a cop?"

"No not quite."

"Please tell me you didn't quit because is me!"

"Too bad." he said. "Actually I kept the job until I heard that you were part of the avengers. Then I quit and now I work at S.H.I.E.L.D in security."

We hugged again.

He stayed a while and we talked. We watched a movie and some of our favorite shows. I think I fell asleep during the second episode. In the early early morning, around 1:30 am-ish, I woke up because of the light of the tv we forgot to turn off. I grabbed the remote and turned it off. Them I went right back to sleep right where I was before. On Daniel's shoulder.

I some up to the beeping of my alarm. I made some oatmeal with brown sugar and crunchy granola, how Daniel and I liked it, and I made sings coffee. Daniel woke up.

"I smell coffee" he said stretching.

"Yeah yours is black, and I always like cream in mine, with sugar of course. Now eat up we have to go to work."

We ate and went to work.

"Is it OK that we walk?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"Good, 'cause I don't have a car yet, but I am saving up for a motorcycle."

We got to work and checked in.

"Bye I'll see you at then end of the day." He said.

"Um, I don't think so." I started pulling him towards the training room where I knew everyone would be.

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see!" We walked through and everyone looked up. You could tell Daniel was in awe, even though he tried to act "manly".

"Guys meet my old friend Daniel." I said.

"Daniel meet the avengers..."

"Hawkeye, Black Widow, Bruce Banner, Thor, Captain America, and Tony Stark!" He interrupted.

All the avengers said a mix of greetings like, hi, hey, what's up, but Thor said,

"Hello mortal being." we a started cracking up. We knew he was joking, kind of.

"It was so nice meeting you guys, seriously it's an honor..." Daniel was interrupted.

"Of course it was an honor, you met me!" Tony said.

"*cough *cough asshat *cough" Natasha "coughed"

"...but I have to get to my post." Daniel finished.

"OK, love you." He kissed me on my cheek and I gave him a hug.
