At Hogwarts, Mira didn't have many friends. That was ok. She prefered to be on her own anyway, so yes it was a bit upsetting to find out that her only friend would not be going to Hogwarts as the got in the a different school (one Mira could never remember the name of) but she was also happy. This way she would be left alone. But maybe one friend would be nice. Mira had hoped her friendship group had stayed small and non-existent. She and a girl named Lily Evans would talk now and then as she had shared a dorm with her for 6 years now. Mira had what was as close as she got to a best friend in ravenclaw, Summer, she had sat down next to Mira in their first history of magic lesion and been friends since then. But as they are not in the same house Mira spent her evenings sat alone in the common room in one of the age chairs near the fire doing homework or reading her worn copy of "The secret garden", a muggle book her mother's sister had given her when she was 11. She seemed to have gotten a lot of things when she was 11. Her Aunt was born without magic, so she lived in the muggle world and would often give Mira muggle things like the book.
It was one of these evenings, a couple weeks after the train journey to Hogwarts, that Mira was sat by the fire, half asleep, working on charms homework that her wand slipped when trying to change a bit of white fabric to blue fabric that lead to her spell turning a 6th year boy's hair pink. Now first she did the spell wrong, as she was trying to turn the fabric blue not pink, second there was a prefect that had seen her use magic on another student (even if it was a accident,) and 3rd the boy was Sirius Black, and he was walking towards her.
At this moment all the tiredness left Mira, replaced by a stab of fear.
In all her time at Hogwarts Mira had managed to stay away from her class/house mates, avoiding talking and any interaction with them other than what was necessary. It would not surprise her if after 5 years of being in the same year, class and house that he didn't even know her name before the train ride and even then Mira was not 100% on him knowing her name now. She kept her eyes on the charms work, in case there was that tiny chance that he was going towards someone else. Small chance, no one else had just turned his hair bright pink.
"That was brilliant." To Mira surprise, A) His voice was not angry, but instead amused, and B) it didn't belong to Sirius but James. She looked up, a surprised look on her face.
"It is not brilliant James, my hair is pink. Pink. Is that brilliant?"James clearly thought it was."Umm sorry about that Sirius, I haven't got that spell perfect yet. It was meant to be blue not pink." This was one of the first times Mira had spoken to Sirius, James or Peter (other than saying Remus was more hot). She had talked to Remus, but that was mostly about homework. "Well that makes all the difference, you were trying to turn my hair blue. That's so much better!" Sirius drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm."Yes. No! I mean no. My wand slipped. I was trying to turn this bit of fabric blue and well, I turned your hair pink. I can turn it back." And before Sirius could say anything his hair was no longer pink but instead it was blue. Well, she'd done the original charm right?"You're not-not very good at charms are you?" James managed to say before returning to death by laughter."That wasn't meant to happen, I swear! I'm sorry!" Mira mentally slapped herself for not being able to do a simple spell and drawing unnecessary attention to herself. "Let me try again?i could probably-" "No, I don't think I would like red or green or any other colour hair, thanks." As Sirius coolly said this, Remus came up behind him and fixed Sirius hair for him."I don't know Padfoot, I think you would look great with green hair. You could go sit with your brother then, fit right in.""Moony, no way would I ever sit with my brother, even if everywhere else was on fire but the seat next to him." Sirius spoke as he playfully hit Remus, well Mira hoped it was playfully. She hoped he wasn't annoyed anymore, anyway. James had recovered from his fit of laughter enough to say;"Anyway, I'm James Potter, the one with now back to normal hair is Sirius, and he's Remus, are other friend Peter is at the kitchens getting food." The newly recovered James pointed at each boy as he said their name."Mira, Mira Waters" As Mira had expected they didn't know who she was. No-one except Remus."Guys, seriously? You both have the attention span of a fork, i swear. She has been in the same year/class as us for 4 years, Not to mention she said I was more hot then you two on the train. Ah... i see why you wouldn't remember her now. Only remembering what we want to, Padfoot and Prongs? Come on, we're going to be late. See you later Mira." Remus walked off, the other too sighing and following suit.
