Emily's POV

I look over to my side and there she is: the most beautiful girl in the world is sitting right next to me in calculus class. Alison DiLaurentis. It's so hard to focus when she's around but I try my best.

"Emily?" She whispers.
"Y-yeah, Alison?" I respond a bit too quickly.
"I was wondering if you could help tutor me in this lesson after school? I don't really understand it."
My heart stops. Alison wants me to tutor her?
"I-I uh yes I mean yeah sure no problem. I'll drive you today after school to my house."
She smiles at me and says thanks. I nearly melt when she smiles. My heart is beating so fast I could hardly breathe.

After school ends, I see Alison waiting for me at my car. She gives me a soft smile and motions for me to open the car door.
"Come onnnnn Em, it's so cold outside!"
"Okay okay here" I toss her the keys and she quickly hops into the drivers side. "Wait Ali, what are you doing?"
She gives me a smirk and responds with "I want to drive."
I sigh. "Be careful, I don't want my car getting totaled."
"Aw Em.. Do you not trust me? You know I can give you the best ride of your life." Ali winks at me and I fall silent, not knowing what to say.

We get into the car and when Ali goes to turn on the heater, it won't work.
"Fuck.. Well I guess we'll have to freeze our asses off for ten minutes." Ali says.

"Here" I give Ali my jacket. "Take it, you need it more than I do."

Ali smiles at me sweetly and says "I owe you Em. Thanks." I smile back at her and nod slightly.

When we get to my house, Ali quickly runs upstairs and plops herself on my bed. She takes out her calculus textbook and quickly points to a problem. "How do I graph this?"

I try explaining it to her but she just doesn't get it. "Here" I say, while I take her soft hands in mine. I guide her pencil to graph the curve and after 30 seconds of my heart pumping so fast and my nervous hand trembling, we get the graph to look somewhat better.

I'm sitting behind her and she looks up at me. "Thanks Em. I think I sorta get the gist now."
"I know it's not the best but you kinda made it ha--" I stop myself before I finish that thought.
"I made it what?" Ali asks.
"Nothing" I quickly reply while biting my lip.
Alison smirks at me and my eyes flicker down.
"What's wrong? Did I do something?"
"N-no it's nothing. Well do you understand how to graph sin and cosine curves now? You just have to remember that the period is how much yo--"
"Yeah yeah I know that part, I think I get it now." Ali says slowly.
"Okay good." I smile back at her.

I don't realize that I'm staring at her until her blue eyes look up from the textbook to meet mine. For a couple seconds, we just stay staring at each other and I can feel my heartbeat speeding up.

It's almost like Ali reads my mind because she does a small nod before I lean in slowly and kiss her. I'm in a complete daze and I can't seem to knock myself out of it even though Ali pulls away 2 seconds later.
I can't even think right now like does this mean she likes me? After the kiss she just smiled and didn't say anything! And she must of known I wanted to kiss her because she nodded at me, like... As if it's her way of saying: I give you permission.
For the rest of our "study session", we decide to go downstairs and make cupcakes just for the heck of it.

Two hours later Ali's at my front door ready to leave.
"Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" Ali said
"Yeah" I smile at her. Despite my calm demeanor, I'm freaking out on the inside.
"Wait Em, you have icing on the side of your lip." Ali says with a soft laugh
I reach up to wipe it off but Ali beats me to it. She looks around for a nearby napkin to wipe the icing off her finger but sees nothing.
"Hmm oh well." Ali shrugs and licks the icing off her finger and I feel my cheeks turning pink. My heart flies and I can't help but to smile uncontrollably.

My heart is still pounding minutes after Ali leaves.

The next day at school, everything is normal. Ali acts like nothing happened yesterday, which disappoints me a bit. Why won't she even look at me?

At lunch she continued to avoid looking at me so when it came time to calc class, I decided that I was done trying to get her attention. Instead, I start talking to the girl on my left, Paige McCullers.

"Hey Emily, words got it that you're quite the swimmer. Are you trying out for the swim team?" Paige says.
"Haha thanks.. I'm alright I guess." I respond, blushing slightly.
"I doubt that. With a body like yours, you definitely got it. Hey how about you come to pre-season practice today after school at the Rosewood swim club? I'm sure the coach would love to meet you."
"Really? Sure then I would lov--" I start to say.
"ACTUALLY, Emily has plans with the girls today after school" Ali interrupts.
The bell rings and everyone shuffles out of class.

I look at Ali questionably before giving her a glare. I apologize to Paige and turn my attention to Ali, while walking out of class.

"What's wrong with you? What plans? After a day of ignoring me, you suddenly pop up in my conversation and tell me we have plans?" I ask with annoyance.
Ali drags me to the side and says: "First off, she was flirting with you. Secondly, the girls are having dinner at Hanna's tonight at 7. Pick me up at 6:45?"
Before I even have a chance to respond, Ali says "Thanks, see you then!" and walks away with a wink.

I sigh and walk to my car. My car still smells like Alison from yesterday and I wish it could smell like her sweet perfume forever.

6:30 comes and I hop into my car to pick up Ali. I knock on the door and Noel Kahn opens it. He's dressed in only his boxers.
"Ali, you have a visitor!" Noel yells.
Ali comes to the door with messy hair and a long t-shirt. I don't even know if she was wearing panties. My heart feels a pang of jealousy.

"Oh! I totally forgot, sorry Em. I'm having so much fun here with Noel that I think I'm gonna skip out on dinner today. Tell Hanna I say thanks though!" Ali chirps.

I look at Alison in disbelief before giving her a scoff and walking away. This was just typical Alison so I don't know why I expected more of her. Maybe something even half decent.
"Yeah, whatever you say Ali." I mutter.

While I drive away, I text Spencer telling her that I'm on the way. When I get to Hanna's house, Aria opens the door and invites me in. Dinner is actually surprisingly fun without Alison. While Hanna gushes about Caleb, Spencer, Aria and I share amused glances across the table. Typical Hanna.
After dinner, I call Paige asking her if she wants to come over for a night swim.

"Paige? It's Emily." I say.
"Emily! Hey! What you up to?" Paige replies eagerly.
"Nothing, I just was wondering if you wanted to come over for a night swim? I know it's random but I really don't have anything oth--" I was cut off.
"Yeah I'd love to! I'll be over in 10!" Paige says.

Ten minutes later, Paige is at my door and we immediately jump into the pool. We race each other and I'm shocked at how good Paige is at swimming. I was having so much fun that I didn't realize how fast time was flying.

?: Oh Emily, don't you know that Ali and Paige are two ingredients that just don't go together? Tsk tsk..
