Emily's POV
It's been two days since Christmas, and I would be lying if I said things between Ali and I aren't awkward at all right now. After Alison told me that she didn't think she was ready, I don't know exactly how I felt after that. A part of me expected her to say that because that's typical Alison - pulling you in and pushing you away. But another part of me felt like she was waiting for me to say it; I guess I was wrong. I told her it was okay and that I would wait. I just don't know how long I'm going to have to wait for.
"Emily!" Hanna waves her hand furiously in front of me.
"Huh?"
"I asked you a question! Do you think these blue heels are better with this silver dress or the black ones? I need to totally blow Caleb away tonight."
"I think the blue ones add a nice pop of color so go with them." I reply, picking up the black ones to put them back on the shelf.
"Yay! Okay let's hurry to Aria's house - the girls are waiting for us."
Hanna speeds like crazy whenever she's in a rush, which really isn't a good thing. I've barely settled in my seat when Hanna stomps on the gas pedal, lurching me forward. Almost instantaneously, Hanna slams down on the break pedal, launching me back into my seat with full force.
"Holy shit Hanna!" I yell. "I could've just gotten a concussion from that. Jesus."
"Oops!" Hanna looks at me sheepishly before politely motioning the elderly woman, standing across the street, to pass. "So how was Christmas with Ali?"
"It was good! She's fallen in love with Pepe - it's so cute."
"Even more than she's fallen in love with you?" Hanna looks over at me, smirking.
"Yup." I laugh softly. I'm glad that Hanna doesn't respond after that because I really am not in the mood to emphasize that my light comment was actually serious. I repeat her words in my head and sigh.
"GIRLS WE'RE HERE YOU BETTER HAVE BOOZE UP THERE BECAUSE I WANNA GET TURNT HERE." Hanna screams as she makes her way through the front door hastily.
"God damn Hanna, are you sure you're not drunk already?" I hold my index finger to my temple, shaking my head.
Hanna speeds up the stairs while I slowly trudge behind her. I haven't gotten much sleep these past days so I'm definitely lacking the energy. I watch as Hanna bursts through Aria's door, nearly taking the entire door of its hinges. What the hell is wrong with this psycho blonde?
"Sorry guys, Hanna's a little.." I look at Hanna condescendingly.
"Typical?" Spencer finishes my sentence.
"Yeah, pretty much." I laugh. My eyes fall on Ali and the little furry creature sitting in the middle of her lap.
"You brought Pepe??"
"Yeah. He missed you." Ali replies, studying me closely.
"Ugh he's so cute. Why didn't you get me a puppy too, Em? I want him." Aria whines.
I crawl onto Aria's bed and Pepe immediately jumps from Alison's lap into mine, placing his front two paws on my chest. I tilt my head down and he eagerly licks my face. In my peripheral vision, I see Ali watching my every move, her eyes searching to make contact with mine. After Pepe calms down, I look up at Alison and lean over to give her a peck. She looks at me with skepticism, as if she's trying to figure out whether I'm still iffy about what happened.
"So guys, what are we doing today? It's 3:00pm so half the day's already gone." Spencer asks.
"Well Caleb's taking me out to dinner tonight so I gotta run in a couple hours." Hanna says. "Oh and guess who's getting laid tonight? That's right. Me. Boom."
