(Takes place while Sam and Brennen are with Colby)

-Eva-

Kat talked me into going shopping with her. She says it'll help me get my mind off Colby. I already know it won't but I'll go to keep Kat happy.

She said we can go get our nails done. We're gonna go for lunch. And then we are gonna actually go to the mall.

She said she's paying for our nails and our meals. I told her no. I told her I'd pay for my own but she insisted she did it. I'm to tired to argue with her.

We went and got our nails done. Kats looked amazing. She got blue. Mine look pretty good too I guess. I got purple.

We pulled in at Chick-fil-a. She went up and ordered for the both of us while I went and found a table to sit at.

I pulled my phone out to see if I had any texts from Sam and Brennen. Nope. I had three from Colby, but I'll worry about those later. Once he has his head screwed on straight.

"Stop looking at your phone hun." Kat said as she she sat down.

"I can't help it Kat. What if this just makes everything worse? What if Colby never talks to me again?" I asked her.

She could obviously tell I didn't really want her to answer the questions. I'm to scared to hear her answers.

"Just turn your phone off Eva. It'll help. Trust me." Kat said.

I did as she said and slid my phone in my pocket. It's not off. It's just on airplane mode.

I still need it to see the time.

And so I can sneak a peek at my notifications when I'm in the bathroom and Kat can't see me.

I can't let this go. I just can't.

"C'mon hun. Let's go buy some clothes. It'll distract you a little better that this is." Kat said.

We cleaned up the table and beaded out the door.

We got in the car and drive to the mall.

We didn't talk about Colby. Or Sam. Or Brennen.

We talked about us. And our other friends. And we bought clothes and shoes.

It did distract me for a little bit. Until I was in a dressing room and I checked my phone.

I had even more messages than before. I had missed calls from all three boys.

I had a voicemail from Colby. But I can't listen to it. I'm to scared to know what he said.

"Hun? You okay I'm there?" Kat asked me from outside the door.

"Yeah. I'm just ready to go home." I said.

Hopefully I didn't sound upset. I don't want her asking anymore questions than I know she's already going to.

She definitely knew I was checking my phone.

"Okay. Sam texted me and asked when we would be home anyway. I'll tell him we're coming now." Kat said.

We paid for what we wanted and headed out of the mall.

When we got to the car I took my phone out and looked atvthe messages from Sam and Brennen. Not the ones from Colby though.

"Do you think things will get better?" Kat asked me.

"I think things are gonna get worse."
