-Eva-

I woke up around 8 and gave up. I can't sleep.

I sat up in bed and stretched and tried to slide out of bed as quietly and carefully as I could so I wouldn't wake Brennen.

"Where are you going?" I heard Brennen ask, his voice raspy from sleeping.

So much for not waking him.

"I can't sleep. I'm just gonna go make breakfast." I said quietly.

"I'll get up with you." Brennen said as he sat up in bed.

"Seriously Bren, I'll be fine. You can sleep. I'll come let you know when the food is done." I said before walking towards his bedroom door.

"Eva, I don't mind getting up. I slept more than you did. Let me worry about cooking. Go take a warm shower and get dressed. After breakfast we'll go to Kat's and then we'll see what comes after that. Ok?" Brennen persuaded.

"But-" I started.

"No buts. Go get ready." He said before he walked out of his bedroom, closing the door behind him.

I let out a long, heavy sigh.

I rolled my eyes and walked over to my bag and grabbed out one of the outfits I bought yesterday and took it to the bathroom with me.

I turned on the water, hotter than usual and stripped down.

I let out another heavy sigh as I stepped in and felt the heat cascade down my body.

Turning my skin red almost instantly.

Washed my hair and body quick before sitting down on the shower floor and turning the water even hotter.

I started thinking of the many different scenarios of how this would end.

Colby could actually like me back, but I highly doubt that.

He could continue to act the same as he does now.

He could hate me forever.

I don't know how to handle any of the outcomes really. I just wish things could go back the way they were in Kansas. We were all best friends, nothing more and nothing less.

I wish I never would have even told anybody how I feel about Colby. It just made everything so much worse.

I hadn't even realised how much time had passed until I heard the bathroom door open.

"Eva? Are you alright?"

"I'm fine."

"I can tell by your voice that you're not."

Brennen reached in the curtain and turned the water off and passed my towel in without looking.

I wrapped myself up and made sure I was covered before opening the curtain and seeing him still looking disheveled and tired.

"Foods on the table when you're ready to eat. Let me know when you're ready to go to Kat's. Her and Sam are waiting."
