"Ug, can't you kids just shut up for one minute?? I can't stand this job.." I raise my hand. "Mr...Astrid...?" "WHAT." Well jeez, he doesn't have to be a jerk. "If you..I don't know...hate this job...then why don't you dismiss us?" I hear snickering scattered around the classroom. "Zurie, feel free to take this detention slip on your way out of class today." "I'm good, I'm just saying..if you can't stand us, then why don't you quit? Y' know...and let us leave?? Just saying." I honestly don't care if he hates me. Because um...yeah he's not the greatest either. FYI, Mr. Astrid is soooo annoying and grouchy. So get used to it. "Would you like two of them, Miss?" I roll my eyes. "No I wouldn't. But I would like you to answer my question." I cross my arms and smirk while slouching in my seat. "See me after class." "But I-" " Um no. Thanks Mr. Astrid, but that's a no. She will not be seeing you after class." I look behind me to see Alex walking through the door blowing a bubble with his gum. "Mr. Alex, thank you. You will also be getting a detention, now sit down." Astrid says in an agitated tone. I put my hands over my mouth and giggle and look at him lean on the chalkboard casually just chewing his gum. "NOW Mr. Alex." "Stop being so formal.." He says with a grin and loudly pops a bubble. I laugh again and he notices. Crap. "Zurie, face forward please." Astrid says to me. I sigh and do as he says...aaaafter looking back at Alex. Mr. Astrid scans his eyes back over all the students and turns back around to the other chalkboard and picks up a piece of chalk. "Now we can continue. Ok class, as we know, vampires have been existing for over-" Alex slams his history book on his desk and yells ignorantly, "BOOOOOOOO!" Astrid spins around giving a cold, mean stare at Alex. You could tell he was about to lash out. "ALEX. COME UP HERE NOW." Alex chuckles and makes his way to the front of the class. All the kids stare at him including me. "What." He says. Astrid grabs his arm tightly. "Class dismissed." Everyone gets up immediately, grabbing their books and shoving one another out the door. I head out as well until.. "ZURIE!" Uuuuuug. I drag my feet to the front of the classroom. I mean, come on, I was 3 inches from walking out the door. "What is wrong with you two?" Alex and I look at each other. "I dunno," He says. "Yeah, maybe it's just because you're super freaking boring and we're just trying to make class more interesting," I add. "Well guess what?" Astrid says, smiling. We both shrug. "I'm going to put you two in separate classes!!" He drops the smile immediately and so do we. How could he do this?! Alex, is like, the freaking..love of my life!! *choking* did I just say that? Ignore that. FORGET IT. "But Mr. Astrid that is so unfair!" I protest. "Yeah!" Alex agrees. "Well, most of life isn't fair. So suck it up." He replies. I giggle. "Nice pun, sir." He gives me a questioning look. "You said 'suck it up', sir. We're vampires. It's a pun. You..know what a freaking pun is, right??" "Yes, Zurie, and don't use that tone with me. Or I'll separate you two and make sure you both have detention. ALSO in separate classes. Now go to lunch with your classmates." Alex and I walk out into the hall and as soon as I get out of the room I stop and take a deep breath, my face blood red. Alex puts his hand on my shoulder. "It's gonna be okay." I blush, making my face ever redder than it was. "Are you ok though?" I nod, awkwardly laughing. "It's just...a bad day for him...he'll forget about this tomorrow...." Alex nods but I can still tell he's still uneasy. "Let's just go to lunch," He says finally. I nod and start following him until I, being clumsy old me, drop my books. Alex turns around and looks at me. I immediately look away acting like nothing happened. He walks over to me and I get all red again. Oh my gosh can I not be a cherry right now? He starts picking up my books while I'm standing there like a petrified idiot. He hands them to me saying, "Clumsy little Zurie. Be careful next time, butterfingers." I almost died. I stopped breathing for a minute. Did...Alex just help me? The nobody was just helped by..Alex? Wooooow..... "Th-thanks.." He smiles and goes to his locker to get his lunch. "Crap, I forgot it." I hear him while walking to my locker and get 4 dollars out of my pocket and sneak it into his backpack loosely. We both start walking and the money falls out of his backpack. "Hey uh...Alex..some m-money fell out of your backpack.." He looks down and picks it up. "Oh thanks! I didn't even realized I had this..." He starts walking again and I follow him, smiling all the way until we reach the cafeteria. I find a place to sit and pull out my lunch. "Hey girl heyyyy!" It was Jesslyn. Worse. Timing. Ever. "Heyyy." I respond unenthusiastically. "So whatcha doin'?" she says, taking my lunchbox. "Hey!" "Girl, you already greeted me you don't need to do it again. Ooh! Wait. Where's your blood?" She looks at me, shaking everything out of my bag. "It's mine why do you need to know??" She looks at me and sets my lunchbox down. "Because, sweetie. I'm going to take it. Now, tell me. Where is it?" "No!" "Give it to me!" She notices I'm holding it behind my back and starts grabbing my hands trying to rip the bottle out of my hand. "STOP!" I yell. The entire room gets quiet and everyone's attention is on me. So of course, Jesslyn, being the brat she is, goes, "Oh my gosh Zurie! I can't believe you would steal my lunch! Everyone, look at how mean she is! Ug!" All of a sudden I feel something hitting my back, and of course it's steak, followed by many other various foods. I hide under the table, leaving Jesslyn to have my lunch. "Hahahahaha! Ok that's enough everyone. Thank you so much for defending me." She takes my food and goes back to her seat, ceasing the food fight. I crawl back from under the table and sit back down in my chair. I lay my head down and notice that Alex is looking at me sympathetically. I don't even blush this time. I bury my face in my hands and start to cry. "EVERYONE LISTEN UP!" I raise up my head with a flushed face and everyone shuts up. "Oh my gosh, Alex! I loooove your outfit today it's so you! Meaning, it's so handsome!" Jesslyn says in a snobby tone. I'm about to bury my head into my palms again when Alex goes, "IF I SEE ANYONE TOUCH HER AGAIN I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN!" Alex walks over to me and sits beside me and gives me his food. "You ok?" I nod and wipe my face. "They're just jerks.." "Yeah I know." He responds. I look at him and give a fake little smile. "Thanks..." "No problem." He gives a warm smile and gives a cold stare at Jesslyn. "Ug, she's so annoying.." "You're telling me.." I respond picking at the food he gave me. "Ok I have to tell you something." He looks at me ready to listen. "I actually put that money in your back pack..and I..don't want to eat this since I wanted you to have the money.." He looks surprised. "Oh uh...well...that's...that's very nice of you..thank you.." I push the plate to him and pull a dollar out of my pocket. "Be right back." I get up and walk to the vending machine to get a bag of chips and come back and sit down next to Alex. I scoot my chair further away from him. "What, do you not like me anymore all of a sudden?" He jokingly says. I take it as if he was offended so I get closer to him...and of course I start blushing. "Are you sick?" He says with concern. I look at him. "Excuse me?" "I asked if you were sick, because your face keeps getting really red.." "Oh! Uh yeah! *cough cough* I haven't morphed into bat form in a while so I'm getting kind of..out of shape..I guess.."  He looks at me and tilts his head like a confused puppy. "Poor you, you need to work on that." "Uh yeah..sure..I..totally will.." Oh gosh that was embarrassing...I look at the clock to see we have 2 minutes left, so I go ahead and get up and grab his hand signaling to follow. I soon realize I was grabbing. His freaking. Hand. I let go and wipe my hand off in my shirt. "I'm sooo sorry I..m-meant..uuug!" "You wanted me to follow you?" I sigh and nod. We throw our trash away and run to the Chemistry Room which was empty at the time. I shut the door behind us. "What are you doing?" He asks giving me a strange look. "Listen. I have to tell you a secret." He sits in one of the desks and looks at me. "Hm?" he waits. "Ok, so..wait...first..how do you get to your dorm from school?" He hesitates and then answers, "I use the nearest bus stop.." "Ok well, after school is over, I have to show you something. So...I'll just go to your locker after class is over..okay?" He shrugs. "Okay." "Ok let's get out of here." "Yeah." We both quickly walk to the door and open it to see Mr. Astrid standing there waiting for us. "Students." We could tell we were about to get in trouble..big trouble in this case..

~ in detention ~

"Um..Mr.Astrid..? Why are we in here exactly?" I ask trying to break the silence. "Because, you imbecile, you two were in an empty classroom without an adult..doing God-knows-what. "Ummm no." Alex replies immediately. "She was telling me a secret. So, can we get out? It's already 1:23A.M! We were dismissed at freaking 12:30!" I look over at Alex and shake my head as if I was saying "just don't even try.." "Ok lady and gentleman, I'm going to the teachers lounge to get a detention slip for you two to sign. I'll be right back." And with that, Astrid left the classroom. Mistake numero uno. I smile at Alex and he smiles back. I run to the door, lock it, and morph into bat form. He does the same. "I thought you said you haven't morphed in a while," He says. "I was lying..I thought you knew that," I responded. We fly out the open window and go to the 5th bus stop. We morph back to vampire. "Ok we're far enough. Let me show you what I was talking about." He nods and watches me. I open a latch under the bench at the stop. It opens up to a staircase. I look at him and grin. He, however, does not. "Ladies first." "Oh, you gentleman!" I say jokingly. I get on my knees to get to the entrance of the staircase and then get back on my feet once it's tall enough. "Come on!" He hesitates...probably rethinking his decisions of even talking to me. "Ok fine..." he gets down and crawls to where I am and then he stands up. "Ok, it's easy from here." I grab his hand awkwardly and start running down to what seems like a 50 foot tunnel. We turn and there's a second staircase, except it goes up. "Okay...close your eyes..." He hesitantly closes his eyes and I lead him up the steps and it's an old train station in the woods. "Welcome to the Seventh Station! He opens his eyes and looks around in awe. "How on earth did you find this place?" He kept looking around while I answered his simple question, "I was just exploring in the woods. Cool isn't it?" "Yeah..." "Yeah and there's-" I stop, remembering something. "Um..there's something I need you to know about this place though.." He looks at me nervously. "What..??"
