Prologue

Sofia will never forget the time she became a princess. It wasn't very easy getting the hang of her new title, and her jealous stepsister, Amber, made it no easier. But when Amber's scheme of ruining Sofia's dance lesson forced the latter to use a spell to become a good dancer, the spell turned out to be a sleeping spell, and Sofia cast it on everyone at her royal debut ball. Amber was the only one who could help, so Sofia gave her a second chance, and Amber realized that she made Sofia ruin her own ball thanks to her pranks, and the sisters reconciled.

While learning to be a great princess, Sofia had had many exciting adventures: meeting the trolls of Enchancia, going on a magic carpet ride, breaking curses, meeting her stepaunt Tilly, earning the power to become a mermaid, venturing in enchanted paintings, meeting Wee Sprites, finishing stories in the Secret Library—she's had many great adventures.

One of Sofia's most exciting adventures was learning that Princess Elena of Avalor had been trapped inside her amulet for 41 years, waiting for another princess to free her—and Sofia was the only princess who could do that.

Sofia and her family traveled to Avalor, and she met up with Mateo, and together, they freed Elena from the Amulet. The Amulet used to be ruby red, but when it pulled Elena inside, it turned amethyst purple. Once Sofia freed Elena from the Amulet, the latter had been trapped inside said jewel for so long that the magic rubbed off on her—and so the Amulet turned ruby pink.
