The very next morning, Sofia was in her room, thinking about her wedding to Hugo. She went up to her bookshelf and saw her old diaries. Then she saw the new diary and colored pens her aunt Tilly had given her last night.
Sofia felt like this event was worth recording in her new diary. Sofia sat at her reading nook and opened her new diary. Then she grabbed a purple pen and wrote:
Dear Diary,
I'm Princess Sofia of Enchancia, but I wasn't always a princess. When I was 8, my mom got married to King Roland II, and he became my stepdad. I also got a stepbrother and stepsister named James and Amber.
I remember when I first met Prince Hugo. We didn't get along when we first met because he was an arrogant bully. But when I learned that it was only a façade, I helped him honor his family by helping him win the Flying Crown at our school, the Royal Preparatory Academy—otherwise known at Royal Prep or RPA. When we were 11, we became a couple.
You won't believe what happened last night. It was my birthday, and Hugo gave me the best birthday present ever: he asked me to marry him!
This is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love Hugo with all my heart, and I really want to marry him. I really look forward to our wedding already. I already feel like planning the wedding.
I think I'll have Amber as my maid of honor because she's my sister. She's seven minutes older than James, so she's going to be queen of Enchancia in about two more years.
I think I know what dress to wear for the wedding. As a tradition, the bride needs something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. My wedding dress can be my something blue. Why does a wedding dress have to be white? Mom sure didn't wear a white dress for her wedding to Dad.
Oh, I'd better go. Mom, Dad, Amber, James, and my sister-in-law Isabel want to think about starting to plan the wedding. Oh, they're so happy for me that they want to help me get started!
I'll write again soon—I promise!
Love,
Sofia
Once Sofia closed her diary, there was a knock on the door. "Enter," she called.
The door opened, and Roland came in. "Sofia, your fiancé and future in-laws are here to see you," he grinned.
"I'm coming, Dad," Sofia said. She put her diary aside and went to join her family.
Sofia entered the parlor, and there were Hugo, Axel, and their parents. Mike was there, too, playing with Miguel.
"There's my bride to be!" Hugo beamed. He and Sofia hugged tightly.
"Oh, Sofia, I'm so happy for you!" Amber beamed.
