Iris' P.O.V:
We finished our dinner and took another walk around the park and went back to our cabin. Dad mentioned taking Cecile to a show somewhere off site and said he'll pay for me and Barry to do something else meanwhile but for some reason, Barry dismissed his offer and told him he has something in mind we could do. I had no idea and I still don't of what that could be. Well... at least I don't think I do.We go inside and I get everyone a drink and we sit out on the porch, looking out at the lake, admiring the contrasting silence compared to being in Central City. The only sound you can hear is the cockroaches and grasshoppers and the chirping of birds making it all more peaceful.
It's now about 6:30pm and Dad and Cecile go to get ready and Barry and I are left alone.
"So... what have you got planned?" I ask him, suspicious.
He gives me a cheeky smile and replies, "you'll have to wait and see." He says.
"Oh come on..." I gently tap his arm, "please tell me?" I ask, giving the puppy eyes.
He looks at me for a minute before saying anything, making me think he's actually gonna tell me.
"You know you look really cute when you do that..." he says.
Here we go, I knew it would work.
"But... it's a surprise." He says craftily.
Dang it.
"Oh well it was worth a try." I laugh.
"I promise, it'll be worth it." He tells me.
I squint my eyes, trying to figure him out.
"Okay."
"Okay." He giggles and kisses me.
I pull away just in case my dad or Cecile come back out. It's a good job I did because Cecile came out of their bedroom just seconds later.
Barry looked at me impressed.
My dad then came out and they said goodbye and left.
Barry and I went inside and chucked ourselves down on the couch.
I threw my legs over his and cuddled into him.
"Did he say how long he'll be gone for?" I ask, just wondering.
"Why? Did you want to do something?" He says smirking.
I laugh, knowing what he's talking about and slap his chest (jokingly).
"Barry Allen!" I say in shock.
"What?" He asks.
"You know what."
We both laugh and he kisses me.
"I need you to go have a shower and put something nice on. Or anything, obviously... because you look nice in anything. But I meant something... different. Or anything you want to wear. Just put on what you want to." He says being adorkable and awkward.
"Okay." I say, cupping his face in my hands before locking my lips on his.
"Love you," I tell him.
"Love you too." He tells me back.
"Good." I say with a smile before getting up to get ready.I have a shower and wash my hair, knowing Barry likes my natural curls and I prefer them too. The hot water trickles down my back and I close my eyes and it suddenly comes real to me that Barry and I are dating. And boy is it a relief.
To be in love with someone for so long, not being sure if they'll ever like you too and having to keep to your limits to suddenly being able to be free of all the doubtful thoughts and pain of not having them.
I speculate what he might be planning to do but nothing comes to mind.
I put on a short, sort of free flowing beige one piece with a brown belt around my waist. I let my hair fall into its natural curls and did my makeup. I came out of the bathroom and Barry had had a shower in the other bathroom and is now wearing a white shirt and blue skinny jeans with his hair gelled back into a quiff just the way I like it. Dang he looks handsome. He looks at me his jaw partially dropped and freezes.
"Wow, iris. You look... perfect." He says.
I blush.
"Aww thanks babe. I didn't know what to put on." I say.
"No... this is... great." He says, smiling.
"So... wow." I say, gesturing at his outfit.
"Thanks," he says smiling and standing taller, straightening out his collar.
I laugh.
"I was gonna ask, sandals okay to wear or...?"
"Yeah, sandals are fine." He says still smiling.
"Okay." I say and go and put them on.It's now almost sunset and we are both ready.
He takes my hand and leads me to the car. It's warm outside so we don't require jackets.
He opens the passenger door for me and I get in. He gets in the driver seat and starts to drive. We go off site and he cranks up the radio.
We've been in the car for about 10 minutes and I can see the sea. I smile, just knowing what he's planning is gonna be super romantic.
He parks up near the beach. The sun is about to set and the beach is super quiet.
The palm trees are lit up and the sand is white. The tide is calm and there's no one around.
He opens the door for me and I get out.
"Barry Allen, why are we here?" I ask smiling.
"It's a surprise." He says, taking my hand and leading me into the sand.
"The vacation park owns this beach. It's usually quiet around this time of year so I thought we could take that to our advantage." He says as we stroll across the sand.
"Wow. This is so romantic, thank you Barry." I say pulling him into a tight hug.
The only sound I can hear is the waves brushing up against the shore. Our hands our locked into each others and the atmosphere is more than peaceful.
