Iris' P.O.V:
We're all ready and good to go. We walk to the place where the obstacle course is which is only a short distance away.
Barry and I walk in front of my Dad and Joe, trying to act normal. Our hands brush against each other as we walk.
We arrive and it's huge. There is a massive Jacob's ladder, followed by monkey bars that are about 72 feet off the ground, then a zip wire and a plank that you are expected to just jump off of.
I love heights and so does Barry so we'll be fine. My dad however, isn't the most confident.
"You sure you're gonna be okay on this dad?" I ask, laughing.
"Yeah. It's gonna be fun." He says, trying to look impressive for Cecile.
Me and Barry look at each other and laugh. We both know he isn't gonna do it but don't say anything further on the subject.
"Good morning, people. Welcome to the not so impossible obstacle course." Says a guy dressed in pale brown shorts and a dark green polo shirt with the vacation parks logo on it.
"Hey, yeah it's just the four of us. Us two against them youngsters." Says my dad.
"Okay. Well if you come with me, I'll help you harness up." He says gesturing us to follow him.
We follow him and get in our harnesses. Barry looks hilarious and we're all joking about how 'great' we look.
"Okay. I'll start the timer and then you can start."
"Okay." I say. My body is full of adrenaline and I'm ready to go.
"Ready to get your asses kicked?" Barry asks Cecile and Joe, jokingly.
"Hm I wouldn't be too confident, kids." Cecile says.
"Three, two, one...go!" The instructor calls.
Barry and I get up onto the first step, then the second, and then the third and he carries on to go up onto the forth but I forget I'm short and struggle to get up.
"Barry!" I call for his assistance.
He looks down and laughs.
"It's not funny, we're in this together remember?" I remind him.
"It's alright I'm coming." He tells me.
He comes down the higher step but it's okay because my dad and Cecile are still stuck on the second one.
He grips me tight and takes me up to the next 2 ones.
"Yo that's cheating!" Calls my dad from the second step.
Barry and I are accelerating upward, his arms locked around me. I look down and sarcastically wave and laugh jokingly at my dad and Cecile.
We get to the 6th step and he puts me back down. The seventh step is a ridiculous distance from the sixth. I use the rope attaching them and climb up it and reach the seventh, feeling really chuffed with myself.

I look down at dad and Cecile and my dad is looking scared already and he's only on the third step. I laugh again and look up at Barry who's on the eighth.
"We got this baby." I tell him, knowing dad and Cecile can't hear us because they're too busy laughing at each other.
Barry looks down at them and laughs too.
"Oh my days, what are they doing?" He jokes.
I make it up the next one so I'm on the same level as Barry, about 28ft off the ground. We have two more to go until we reach the top.
"Ayyyy, we're gonna beat you!" I call down to them.
"We haven't finished the course yet, I wouldn't be too confident." My dad tells us from the fourth step.
Barry and I finally reach the last step, 82ft off the ground. There's what looks like a tree house that we climb on to that leads on to the next task. Monkey bars. 82 FEET OFF THE GROUND!

Barry's P.O.V:

Iris and I are by far in the lead. We both don't suffer with the fear of heights so that probably helps. The next task is to cross 12 monkey bars at 82ft from the ground.
"Jump on my back." I tell her, knowing it would be quicker. Well... and I'm taking advantage of the fact joe and Cecile aren't watching us.
She jumps and wraps her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. I hold under her thighs and boost her up.
"Now hold tight." I tell her.
She grips tighter and I leap onto the first bar. I look down and actually freak out for a second. Having her on me gives me more responsibility. We have harnesses on but it's still scary.
"Iris..." I say. "I'm shitting myself." I tell her honestly.
She laughs. "It's okay, honey you got this. If we fall the harnesses will catch us."
Right.
"I can take over if you want." She says.
"No it'll be okay." I tell her, my arms aching from holding both our weight from this bar.
I swing on to the next one and we just about make it.
"Whoo," She says, "that was close." With literally no fear in her. She's fearless, a lot more brave than me.
I manage to make it to the next tree house. I put her down and shake my arms off from where they are aching.
"We did it!" She yells, high fiving me.
I look back and see joe and Cecile still in the 7th step of the Jacobs ladder and we both laugh.
"Oh my gosh." She says.
"Cmon lets go to the next." I tell her.
It's a zip wire.
"I'm going first." She demands.
"Or we can go on together, save you waiting for me." I suggest.
"Okay." She shrugs.
The instructor attaches our harnesses together and I hold her waist, hugging her from behind. We're stood on the edge. She raises both arms in the air.
"LETS GO!" She shouts as she jumps off the edge.
I wasn't ready for that. We scream even though we're not scared as we glide through the trees, the gentle wind blowing in our faces. She rests her head back onto my chest, her hair flowing in the wind. I grip her tighter and we're nearly at the next tree house. Cecile and Joe are out of sight now but I know they'll catch up so it's okay.

We reach the treehouse. The next instructor unattached mine and iris' harnesses from each other.
"There you go guys." He says.
We're still roughly 80ft off the ground and there's just one more thing to do. Jump. Off of this plank.
My body is full of adrenaline and I'm scared. I look down at it and gulp. "Shit." I whisper to myself.
"You'll be fine Bar." She says, rubbing her hand on my back.
"Yeah." I say.
"Right. I'm going. See you down there." She says walking on to it.
"Three, two, one..." she jumps without hesitation and I hear her screaming and laughing. She bounces up from her harness and the instructor at the bottom unclips her.
The instructor up here is just looking at me, impatiently. He can wait. No one just jumps off of a 80 foot plank without some fear unless you're Iris.
"YOU CAN DO IT BABE!" I hear iris shout from the ground.
I can hear Cecile and Joe getting closer, coming down the zip wire. I know how competitive Iris is and how I am and I do want to win. I walk to the edge and iris cheers for me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath and jump. I'm free falling and then I bounce up, and a huge relief fills me.
Iris claps.
"Told you you could do it." She tells me.
I think I've gone green and my legs are shaky.
"Never doing that again." I confirm.
"Aw you okay?" She asks me as the instructor takes off my harness.
"Better. Joe and Cecile are coming down the zip wire I think." I tell her.
I pull her in for a tight hug, the adrenaline rush still in my body.
She pulls out of the hug and quickly kisses me before joe and Cecile can see us again.
We look up and they've just showed up. Joe takes one look and immediately decides he's not doing it. Cecile debates and then takes the jump and joins us.
"Hey, guys." She says all sweaty.
Joe is still up there, shitting himself.
"You wouldn't think he's a cop," Cecile laughed. "He screamed all the way down the zip wire. I think he bursted my ear drums." She says whilst rubbing her ears.
"You watch him not do this now." Iris tells her laughing. And she's right. Joe comes down some steps from the tree house, avoiding the plank.
"Aww well done Joe, you tried." Cecile tells him, giving him a hug.
"Yep but we won!" I say laughing and taking iris' hand and raising it in the air.
"You cheated!" Joe said.
"We did not!" Iris says.
"Hm, short ass couldn't get up the third step and so lanky comes along and lifts her up. I think that's cheating." He says, jokingly.
We all laugh.
"It never said you couldn't." Iris says.
"Alright, y'all wanna go grab lunch?" Cecile asks.
"Yes!" I say immediately. I'm always hungry. Food is my motive for everything. And iris of course.
"There's a cute little restaurant we can walk to, just a few minutes away?" She asks.
"Yeah that's perfect." Iris says with a smile.
We walk off to the restaurant, iris and I behind joe and Cecile, craftily holding hands when they weren't looking.
