Part 15

Melody_POV

"Brittany...." Charles tried to diffuse the situation, but Brittany just cut him off.

"I don't know why you are hanging around with that lying slut Charles" she smiled sweetly at him. "You don't know what she has been like while you were gone."

I should have known that she was planning something when I saw the way she smiled yesterday.

"Charles" I smiled over at him. "I'm going to go rest in the lounge for a bit. You can stay and hang out with Brittany."

"Huh?" he was confused.

"Acting like a goody two shoes isn't going to save you" Brittany was obviously pissed off. She took a couple of more steps towards me; closing the gap between us. Then she slapped me hard across my face and screamed "Why did you have to steal him from me?"

Suddenly, all eyes were on us. People stopped and stared at the drama that was unfolding right before their eyes. Some even pulled out their phones to take pictures and record what was happening.

"You knew I was in love with him, so why did you have to steal him from me?" Brittany tearfully screamed at me.

"I never stole him from you!" I tried to reason with her. "Charles is just my friend. Nothing more."

"Please" she scoffed. "You guys have been attached at the hip since yesterday!"

"She is a VIP guest and I was assigned the role of her attendant" Charles tried to reason with her.

"There are plenty of others who could have been her attendant! It didn't have to be you!" Brittany continued to scream.

Sungjong_POV

As we entered the convention center, we expected to be mobbed by a crowd of fans, but were surprised when we weren't. We noticed a large crowd that had gathered and inched closer to see what was happening.

I found a spot where I could see and was shocked when I saw some girl slap Melody across the face. 

Sunggyu tapped me on the shoulder and whispered "We should probably go to the lounge and let the staff handle this."

I shook my head "I can't do that, Hyung."

He was shocked by my behavior. "Sungjong...."

"That's my girlfriend. I can't just sit back and watch as she is attacked right in front of me."

Sunggyu nodded "I understand." He placed a hand on my shoulder and said "Good luck. We'll wait for you up in the lounge."

"Okay" I nodded.

I politely inched my way through the crowd of onlookers until I was finally in a position to see what was going on.

"If you hadn't been here, Charles would still be mine!"

Just as the girl raised her hand to slap Melody once more, I rushed forward and stood between them. Surprised by my sudden appearance, the girl took a couple of steps back. I looked at the girl, smiled at her and asked "Has my girlfriend done something to upset you?"

"G....G.....Girlfriend?!?!" the girl screamed and entire crowd burst into gossip.

Melody_POV

Just as I was about to get slapped again, someone came between us.

My heart began to race as my eyes traced the familiar back before me. "Sungjong" I whispered to myself as tears began to form in my eyes.

"Has my girlfriend done something to upset you?" he asked Brittany.

"G....G.....Girlfriend?!?!" Brittany screamed in shock and the entire crowd around us burst into gossip.  "Are you really dating that bitch?"

"Excuse me?" Sungjong chuckled angrily. "What did you just say about my fiancée?"

I quickly grabbed his arm and turned him towards me. When our eyes met, my heart leapt from my chest and I blushed. "What are you doing, Sungjong?" I whispered to him.

"I promised that I would come and put them in their place, remember?" he smirked and I couldn't help but smile.

"Just forget about that" I sighed.

"But...."

"No buts about it" I spoke sternly and he straightened up.

"Yes Dear" he smiled and everyone around us cooed.

Suddenly realizing that everyone was staring at us, I became self-conscious. "We should just go" I nervously stuttered.

"Wait" he said as he grabbed my hand. He pulled a necklace out from under his shirt and removed the ring that had been dangling from it. Then he lifted my hand a little higher and placed the ring on my finger. "I think it's time I gave this to you properly" he blushed slightly.

Everyone around us started cheering and shouting "Congratulations!"

Sungjong took me by the hand and started to lead me away from the crowd. As I looked back, I saw that Brittany was still standing there in shock and that the crowd wasn't looking upon her fondly.

I pulled my hand free from Sungjong's and said "I'll be right back." I walked back to where Brittany stood and grabbed her hand. "Let's go" I said calmly. "You too Charles" I called over my shoulder.

Brittany looked around nervously and said "Why are you helping me? Wouldn't it be better if you just let them beat me up?"

I quickly turned to face her and said "Are you crazy? Why would I want to see my friend beaten up?"

"Your friend?" she was surprised.

I pulled her into a hug and said "Yes, my friend. Just because we were arguing over something stupid, doesn't mean we're not friends anymore. You will always be my friend!"

Suddenly Brittany broke down in tears and cried "I'm so sorry!"

I held her in my arms and patted her back until she was able to calm down. "We really should get moving" Charles urgently whispered and I saw Sungjong beckoning us to hurry up.

"We can talk more once we get to the lounge" I said as I raised Brittany's face to look at me. "Okay?"

She nodded and we all made our way to the lounge before the situation got out of hand.
