thirty eight

Jungkook paced anxiously in the waiting room, Yoongi sitting on a chair watching him.

"Jungkook, stressing yourself out over his condition isn't going to help anyone." He sighed plopping down beside the boy.

"I can't help it...I haven't heard anything at all and it's driving me insane." He let a breathe escape from his lips, his mind replaying the moment Taehyung collapsed in front of him again and again.

He hung his head, his arms wrapping around the back of his head as Yoongi patted his back.

"Breathe." 

"Excuse me?" The two turned to see a nurse hovering over them.

"Yes?" Yoongi was the one who answered.

"Do either one of you happen  to be Jungkook?" The boy's ears perked up at his name and he stood with a nod.

"Yeah that's me." 

"The patient Kim Taehyung has been asking for you." Jungkook's heart skipped a beat as he heard those words the boy fighting a smile.

"T-Taehyung? He's okay?" 

"Yes, he is stable. His parents haven't arrived yet and his Doctor has restricted anyone else from meeting him to keep him stress free. However, he's been asking for you since he's woken up." 

Jungkook cupped the back of his neck turning in a circle in his spot as he tried to contain his happiness. 

"Please come with me." The nurse stated and Jungkook nodded making sure Yoongi would be okay without him before following behind her.

Several turns and doors later they were finally in front of his room.

"The most I can give you is half an hour for right now. Make sure to let him know that, we can't give any more favors." And with those words she left leaving Jungkook to pace back and forth before he finally opened the door.

It was silent when he entered, the humming of machines and beeping of a heart monitor the only sounds that could be heard. 

Taehyung lay motionless on his hospital bed, a breathing  mask covering his nose and mouth, wires poking out from his hand. 

Jungkook swallowed the lump in his throat as he walked forward and collapsed to his knees beside the boy's bed. 

"T-Tae..." He held his hand, being careful of the IV, his fingers lacing into the older's.

Taehyung's eyes fluttered open, his head turning to look at the younger and small smiling appearing behind his mask.

Jungkook couldn't look at him, his head hanging as he watched their interwined fingers, the evident pale skin of the older popping out against the younger's.

Taehyung removed his hand from Jungkook's and for a moment the younger's heart dropped his head snapping up, the pain of rejection shown in his eyes. Taehyung removed the breathing mask from his face momantarily before he ran his icy fingerstips across Jungkook's cheek, cupping the boy's face as he ran a thumb over his cheekbone.

"I love you." The words were rough as they left the older's lips and Jungkook's lower lip trembled as he took in a shap breathe. It seemed he's been crying a lot today but he couldn't help it if two of the most important people in his life were almost taken from him. "I wasn't about to let you hear those words for the first time on a bad note."

"I love you." He whispered back, his eyes catching the bandage that was wrapped around his neck. "A-Are you okay?" Taehyung nodded running his hand over the bandage.

"Yeah, just a small nick here from where he held the blade. The actual worry was this..." He pressed his hand to his side. "...Where he stabbed me when I collapsed. Luckily, it wasn't deep and wasn't able to damage anything important. They said I'll make a full recovery." 

Jungkook wiped away his tears with the back of his hand, taking Taehyung's hand back in his and squeezing it. The older ran his hand through his hair hoping to comfort him and Jungkook leaned into his touch with a hum.

"Did you see Jimin? Is he alright?" 

"Yeah, he's okay. He's also on a breather but he'll be fine."

"Good, are you guys good though...?" He asked the question but there was a  hint of worry in his voice as if he was scared Jungkook would choose his best friend over him.

"Yeah, we're friends, always have been, always will be. I don't need to choose between you two because you both are special in your on way." 

"Do me a favor Kookie?" 

"Hmm?" Taehyung gave a weak smile.

"Give me a kiss?" Jungkook obliged standing and leaning into press a kiss to the corner of his mouth before kissing his forehead. 

Taehyung gasped, coughing slightly as Jungkook made his heart race and the boy put his breathing mask over his lips and nose once more.

"Breathe baby, I'm not going anywhere."

"Okay, um..." Yoongi scratched the back of his neck as he leant on the door trying to see if he could hear anything. After failing he decided it was now or never. Gathering up his courage he opened the door to Jimin's room. 

The boy had been daydreaming peacefully with his eyes closed when he heard the door open.

Assuming it was the nurse he didn't think much of it until he smelt someone's familiar scent hit his nose and his eyes opened to see Yoongi, the boy biting at his lower lip nervously.

"Hey." 

"Hey." Jimin smiled, the beeping in room getting slightly quicker as the boy sat down where Jungkook had an hour earlier. 

"How are you feeling?" He asked resting his hand on the bed.

"I'm feeling a lot better. The Doctor told me what happened, thanks for saving me." Yoongi flushed pink slightly as he looked around the room trying to avoid eye contact.

"It was Jungkook who had the brilliant idea, I just did what he told me to."

Jimin let his fingers run across the older's Yoongi watching the movement with a fluttery heart.

"Hey, you saved me just as much as he did. Thank you." Yoongi couldn't surpress the gummy smile that formed on his lips.

"You're welcome." 

Jimin's hand wrapped around Yoongi's and the two interwined their fingers, talking nonsense about all the moments they had missed while being apart.
