Ernst drove down the dead highway, tears forming in his eyes as he thought about hanschen and how he had to leave him behind. He couldn't bear the thought of being away from him for so long, even with the breaks he would get: it wouldn't be the same. "Just 4 more months and you'll see him again, You can do it," Ernst reassured himself as he turnt up his car radio.

"Just don't forget to think about me and i don't forget you: "I'll write you once a week she said"

Ernst sighed and continued to worry about hanschen. God knows what he  could be doing. Knowing him he was probably lashing out: screaming, crying, the works. Ernst began to bite his nails out of worry. "I hope he's at least a little better by tomorrow" Ernst sighed as he continued to talk to himself. The tears that were only slightly forming in his eyes earlier were rolling down his cheeks now. He continued to drive down the dark, deserted highway until he reached a gas station. "Perfect" Ernst whispered in a raspy, broken voice. He parked his car in the gas stations parking lot, and just broke down. Right then and there. He slammed his head on his steering wheel and just cried. And cried. And just cried for what felt like forever. He never wanted to move, he just wanted to go back home to hanschen. But he knew he couldn't do that. Soon enough, Ernst began to calm down and recollect his thoughts. "Everythings gonna be just fine" Ernst reminded himself as he smiled at himself through bloodshot eyes in his rear-view mirror. He sniffled a bit, wiped his eyes, and continued driving down the dead highway. "Maybe this won't be that bad, i mean, how hard can long distance relationships be?" Ernst said, trying to reassure himself in any way possible

But,

Ernst still couldn't shake that feeling of misery and dread. Being away from his lover for 2 years, with only a few breaks, it was gonna be miserable. But after they got through this: him and hanschen would be happier than ever. He was sure of it

Or was he?
