After the meeting was adjourned, Lukas, Jesse, Aidan, and Radar headed home. After their boring, endless meeting, all they wanted to do was relax. "So, Lukas," Radar said, trying to break the silence as they walked, "I noticed that you've been writing away in some sort of red journal." Lukas looked at Radar with an expression that Jesse didn't quite understand. "I was just wondering what you were writing about in there," he finished. For a moment, Lukas didn't say anything. Jesse looked at him, still trying to figure out the puzzling expression on his face. After a few minutes, he finally said, "I'm working on a new book." Jesse's eyes lit up with excitement. "Wow Lukas!" she said happily, "I'm so proud of you!" Lukas turned a light shade of red. "Aw Jesse, it's not really a big deal," he laughed. "Uh, yeah it is!" Jesse remarked, "you're so talented!" Lukas smiled at Jesse. "Whatever you say," he responded, and laughed again.
"So, what's your new book about, Lukas?" Aidan inquired. "I guess you'll find out when it comes out, now won't you?" he replied. Aiden rolled his eyes. "But Lukas, your books take forever to come out!" Aidan whined. Jesse giggled. "Come on Aidan, let the blondie keep his secret book to himself," she told him. Aidan groaned, but didn't say anything about the book anymore.
After a few more minutes, they arrived back home. "Ahh, home sweet home," Jesse said with a sigh of relief. She was glad to be home. After all, she was exhausted. Everyone else was exhausted as well, and they all headed to bed. A few minutes later, Jesse headed to bed as well. She was lying there for what seemed like forever, until her eyes started to close, and she slowly drifted to sleep
---------------------
Everything was pitch black, and Jesse had no idea where she was.
It was almost as if she had been blinded, as she couldn't see anything at all.
"What are we going to do with him?" A low, mysterious voice grumbled. She turned her head in the direction of the man's voice, hoping that maybe her vision would clear up. For whatever reason, Jesse recognized the voice, although it feels as if she's never heard it before in her life. She tried to speak, but no words would come out of her mouth. It was like she was just floating in space. She was helpless.
"I say we kill the prisoner. He won't tell us where the others are," said a feminine voice. Jesse felt as if she knew this person too, but she still couldn't make out whose voices they were."Now, I say we give him one last chance to tell us where they are," the low voice said again, "and if he's smart, he'll tell us where they are." There was a loud ripping noise, which Jesse recognized as duct tape. Jesse felt sorry for the prisoner, who must've been even more terrified than she was at this moment.
"We're giving you one last chance," the man said, "where are they?" There was a hint of anger and annoyance in his voice. "I'll never tell you!" a new voice shouted, "I won't let you hurt Jesse!" This time, she recognized the voice almost immediately. The prisoner was Lukas.
"Alright, you've had your chance," the man's voice said, obviously annoyed, "kill him."
---------------------
Jesse woke up in a cold sweat. Her heart was rapidly beating, and she was shaking uncontrollably."Lukas..." she whispered to herself. She needed to go check on him and see if he was okay. Immediately, she ran into his room. "Lukas?" she said in a hushed voice, just loud enough so that he could hear her, but nobody else could. "Jesse?" Lukas groaned, still half asleep, "what's wrong?"
Jesse felt herself get red with embarrassment. "I, uh... I had a bad dream," she mumbled, "I'm scared." Lukas got up and held Jesse close to him. "It's okay, it was only a dream," he whispered. Jesse sighed. Something about Lukas holding her made her feel better. It made her feel calm and relaxed. "Can I sleep with you?" she asked softly, "I don't want to have another bad dream."
"Of course," he whispered, and carefully led her to the bed so she wouldn't trip on anything. Lukas got into bed first, and Jesse followed. "Goodnight Jess," Lukas said quietly. She didn't know why, but she always loved it whenever Lukas called her Jess."Goodnight Lukas," she replied. She rested her head on his chest, and fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat. Lukas smiled softly and wrapped his arm around Jesse, before happily falling asleep.
