"What do you want with me?" Lukas asked Soren, who was tossing his mask aside.

"Oh, you're not who I'm after," he said menacingly, "it's that little black-haired girlfriend of

yours that I'm after."

"She's not my girlfriend," Lukas spat, feeling his face turn red, "she doesn't like me like that, but

that's besides the point... why would you kidnap me?"

Soren chuckled. "You really don't get it, do you?" he laughed, "it's obvious that she's got a little

thing for you."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"You see, Lukas, I've been watching your little friends since the very beginning. Remember

Endercon? Who's the one who rescued you from the basement? Jesse. Who's the one who

gave you food when everyone else wouldn't? Jesse," he started, "And when you guys went

through those portals to other lands? That just proved my point even more. She saved you

over her best friend when PAMA was controlling you. She's known Petra for years, but she's

known you for... what, 10 months? And when you kept getting accused by Cassie, Jesse was the

one sticking up for you when nobody else would."

Lukas scoffed. "That's just because Jesse is a good friend, okay?" he snapped, "and how do you

know about all of this? Why are you so interested in Jesse?"

Soren just chuckled again. At that moment, the door opened, and in walked somebody that

Lukas had hoped to never see again.

Cassie Rose.

Jesse pulled out the amulet and waved it around, trying to find where the light was the

brightest. She walked in the direction of the light, and hoped that she'd find Lukas soon.

She kept walking until dawn, and decided that she should settle down for the night.

Jesse collected some dirt and started building a hut. Suddenly, Jesse felt something brush

against her leg. She jumped and pulled her sword out of her bag. After turning around, she saw

nobody, but still felt something at her feet. She looked down and saw a small chicken pecking

her shoes. "Hey there little guy," She said, relieved that there wasn't a zombie or creeper behind

her. The chicken sat down next to Jesse's dirt hut, and clucked. "Come on, little guy, let's go

inside and rest for the night," she said to the chicken, and it hopped into the hut.

When she got inside, she sat against the wall, and pulled out Lukas' book. She read it aloud to

her new little friend, as she started to doze off.
