Chapter 3
It's been three days since the talk, and nothing has happened. By the time the fourth day came around, I was sure that the men have forgotten all about us.
That night was a sleepless night, just like every other night. There was no one to talk to at that time of night, so I settled on reading in bed.
Three chapters into the book, I heard a knocking on the window.
Must be the wind blowing the trees.
The knocking continued, getting louder by the second.
"Ugh, would you just shut up already?" I whisper shouted.
I walked over to the window and whipped it open. Before I could scream for help, a club whacked my head and knocked me unconscious.

I was sleeping on a bed. The bed sheets smell like expensive lavender detergent; this is definitely not the orphanage. It felt very soft. The room was cold, sounds of an air conditioner whirring overhead.
Voices. There were two of them. Instead of opening my eyes, I decided to listen for a while.
"...Two o'clock last night. She was out since then," a gruff voice said.
His voice didn't echo around the room much, meaning this must be a small room. I think I'm in a hotel room.
"She would make a good agent," a high-pitched voice said.
"What do you mean?" the gruff voice interjected. "She was taken out without struggling."
"Well, fighting might not be her strong point, but I've been watching her for months, and she can definitely outsmart most of our agents."
Wait... People have been spying on me?
"Even me?"
"Especially you."
"When will she wake up?"
"Soon. If not, we will just tie her up and take her to the camp to knock some consciousness into her."
I need to get out of here. If I don't, I might as well be dead, and I can't bear to leave Isa all alone. So, I waited until they left, keeping quiet for thirty seconds just to be sure.
Just as I suspected, I was in a hotel room, one that I could never afford. The walls were covered in dark brown wallpaper with fancy designs. The furniture in here is probably worth thousands, if not millions of dollars. I feel unworthy just looking at this place.
I looked out the window and saw that we were on the tenth floor - no way am I escaping that way.
I studied the map behind the door and located the nearest emergency exit. It was all the way at the other side of the building, and making a run for it wouldn't do; this place was crawling with guards. I needed a distraction.
-=-
"Please calmly make your way to the emergency exit."
So.
I decided to wreak havoc in this fancy schmancy hotel by starting a fire and activating a smoke alarm. I used a water bottle to focus the light from the ceiling on to a bundle of tissue wrapped in black paper. (If only Isa were here; it would make things way easier). This way, I would blend right in with the hotel guests that are trying to exit the building.
I peeked out the peephole and slipped out the door when I saw people coming out of their rooms.
I nearly made it out the hotel when a security guard grabbed my shoulder.
"Gotcha!" he whispered in my ear. I tried to break free. Try being the keyword.
"Alright everyone," I heard the gruff voice shout to the crowd. "Back to your living quarters. The situation has been handled."
Living quarters? Who uses that word?
"You," the gruff voice called out. He was a very short man at about 5'1. He had a shiny bald head and a pointy hooked nose. His head looks squashed, making it look like he was squinting all the time. His body was stick thin and his skin is yellow. Now I had a face to match with his voice.
"Me?" I replied.
"Yeah, you. This is where you will be staying from now on. Go back to your living quarters and we will brief you tomorrow."
"O-Okay."
"Oh, and rule number one: no escaping."
