Class is over. Finally. Now I have to go and top up the gas and electric at the local store as well as the weekly shop, then I have to pick up Aurora from nursery. Simple.
As I walk into the store I think I notice someone familiar but I'm not too sure from where so I decide to ignore the person and line up for the cashier. When I get called up I realize that it was Tomas that called me and smile as I walk towards his checkout.
"Hey, Averna. How's you?" Tomas asks with that shy smile of his.
"I'm good. You?" I ask whilst getting the cards and cash out of my purse.
"Same. So what do ya need?" He replies, his accent slipping out as it does occasionally.
"£20 on gas and £10 on electric please." I say handing the cards over, and trying to get out of the store as soon as possible as I still need to go shopping and drive to Aurora's nursery which is a twenty-minute drive from the local Tesco; if the traffic is good.
"Okay. That'll be £30 in total." He matter-of-factly says this as I hand the money over and take the cards back to put into my purse. Once he gives me the receipt, I say my goodbyes and turn to leave, however, as I'm making my way to the door I see that familiar-looking face again and try to place it. Nope. Nothing. I can't remember where I know the face from, so I just leave the store remembering that I actually don't have all day to try and figure out this mystery. Although it's gonna bug me now - we all know how that feels.
After shopping I pick Aurora up from nursery and as we're on our way back when I see a man on the side of the road stood next to his motorbike, black Ducati, I think - he looked like he'd broken down, so I start to slow down and pull up beside his bike. Rolling down the passenger side window I call out;
" You having some trouble there?" I ask whilst checking the stranger over. He has dirty blonde hair that was mussed from the wind, full lips that had curved into a small smile of relief when I called out. I couldn't see his eyes as he had dark sunglasses on, that fit his face perfectly, but hopefully, he'd take them off soon, with high cheekbones and a strong jaw. He was around 6ft, maybe more, broad shoulders and a slim physique. Mm-mm... I think I found my dinner.
He wore a grey t-shirt that showed his flat muscled stomach through the fabric easily, along with dark jeans and black combat boots the look completed by a black leather jacket.
"Yeah, I am. My bike broke down and I don't know where the nearest garage is. " He answered in a deep husky voice that lit my insides on fire and had a scorching heat pooling in my belly, sending a shiver down my spine. Huh. An out of townee, well he's rare.
"Hold on if we put some of the seats down in my car your bike will fit and I'll take you to Gary's, alright?" I said this as I was turning off the engine and then climbing out of the car. The stranger met me at the back of the car whilst giving me what I'm sure was an incredulous look. Probably from the city or something as equally charming.
"If you're sure you don't mind, a lift would be great...uh...?" I wonder for a second what he's stuttering about then realise it's cause he's looking for something to call me.
"Averna. And you?" I ask in response, I don't care how panty-melting hot the guy is I'm knowing his name if he's getting in the car with me and Aurora.
"Samael. But you can call me Sam." Okay that's defiantly a unique name, one I certainly haven't heard before, only one other person I've known before has had a unique name like that.
"Okay then Sam, so why don't you start rolling your bike over here and I'll get these seats down?" Although I asked it was more of a task than a question. I really need to learn to dial down the mum mode. I sigh wondering exactly how I would do that. But I have no idea whatsoever! Grrr! I'm hopeless.
"Okay." Sam wonders over to his bike and gets something out of the seat holdall, then starts rolling the bike over to where I'm standing. Once he reaches me I've managed to get all the necessary seats down and we manage to get the bike into the back of my car. Finally, I close the boot and turn to face Sam.
"Alright, now that's taken care of let's get you to Gary's. Just hop into the passenger seat and we can go. " As I'm settling into the car Sam opens the passenger door, and I turn to check on Aurora - to find out she's fast asleep. Great.
As Sam is settling into his seat I reach out behind him and give her leg a little shake whilst saying; "Aurora, sweetie you need to wake up we're almost home." She stirs and her eyelids flutter open revealing her piercing jade green eyes, clouded by sleep. Once Aurora has sat up properly and is awake I turn in my seat and do up my belt, turn the engine on and pull back out into the road.
The radio was playing softly in the background when Sam surprised me by asking, "So is she yours or..." He's asking about Aurora - who has drifted back off to sleep. Oh well, let her rest for now.
"That's Aurora and she's my sister, but I've raised her and I treat and love her as if she were my own. Just like with all my siblings." I gave him a sidelong glance to see if I could gauge his reaction, but his face gives nothing away. This man is frustrating!
"Oh... so how many siblings do you have?" I narrow my eyes at the road, trying to think of a reason why he would be asking me these questions.
"Five, Aurora's the youngest. What about you - any siblings?" He seemed to shift slightly when I asked him this question - I was thinking this over in my head when his answer interrupted my thoughts. "I have three siblings - one older than me, the other two younger than me." Satisfied with his answer I started my barrage of questions. Let the fun begin.
