I pulled myself up and over the ledge, my hair sticking to my back as sweat rolled down the nape of my neck. I lowered my head as I looked down the cliff. There was only one way to get down; jump.

I got on my feet, taking in a deep breath before taking a running start and swan diving off. I hit the water at a breakneck speed, but somehow it was soft instead of hard. I floated down, bubbles escaping from my mouth. I inhaled sharply when I saw an eel, forgetting I was underwater, but it seemed that it didn't hurt me.

I saw a glowing chest and began to swim towards it, the water thick like syrup. I stabbed the lock with my knife and opened it, blinking twice.

Sitting inside of the chest was two gauntlets. They were black, gold and blue, and they had a faint glow around them. I picked them up and slipped them on.

Suddenly power was surging through my veins. I felt stronger, more agile. I began to swim back up to the surface. It didn't seem as hard this time. When my head popped above the surface, I looked around. A large whirlpool appeared, and out of it came a sea dragon. It lowered it's head to me, appearing to ask if I needed a ride. I giggled and climbed on, laughing as we dove underwater and sped back to my jeep. I climbed out and kissed the dragon on the cheek before running back.

I climbed in and turned the key, speeding down to city hall. They'd want to hear about what I'd discovered.

As I neared city hall, I felt like I should keep them a secret, that I should use them on the streets. I shook my head and kept driving, but soon my head was overwhelmed by the fight.

I pulled over and banged my head against the steering wheel, but suddenly I wasn't in control of my body. I got out and started running towards the building, laughing like a sociopath. People cleared the way, screaming. They were getting smaller and smaller, almost like ants. I slowed to a stop, finally in control of myself. I looked down and gasped. I was... a Bake-kujira, one of the many creatures I'd read about in japanese mythology. I looked to the sky as bullets rained down on me, the darkness soon claiming me.

I woke up on a small bed in the mayor's office. He was pacing in the corner, and looked both surprised and terrified that I was awake.

"Finally!" He said. "You turned into some giant fish thing in the middle of the city! You terrorized so many people!"

I sat up, realizing that I still had on the gauntlets.

"You... didn't get these off of me?" I asked, looking up at him through my eyelashes.

"We tried to, but they wouldn't come off," he explained. He help up a newspaper with a picture of the Bake-kujira on it. "At least you got what you wanted. Your famous now."
