Prolouge
I'd never given a whole lot of thought to how I'd die. I'd always figured I would die a normal death, just like the normal people that I resembled.
As I turned the bomb on, though, I remembered what I'd learned when I was thirteen years of age. I was a nature elementak, and a weak one at that. I'd never been able to keep up with my classmate's training, and I'd never been able to use my magic without nearly killing myself in the process.
As the memorries flooded back, I closed my eyes and let the bomb detonate. I wouldn't have been able to get out before it exploded anyway.
Chapter 1: The Union
I was sitting beside my friend in calming class comparing her pretty, wavy long blonde hair to my straight as a board brown hair. My hair could be seen as pretty, but it wasn't the best. The teacher was talking about breathing exercises we could use if we were ever in a fight and needed to calm down.
I rolled my eyes. I think we both know that I'm uncapable of using my magic without it backfiring, Mrs. Anne, I bitterly thought to herself.
"Em, would you like to share your thoughts with the class?" Mrs. Anne said, snapping me out of my trance.
"W-what do you mean?" I stuttered, blushing.
Mrs. Anne shook her head. "You forgot I can read minds in one day? That's bad, Em, that's bad." Em rolled her eyes. "Now, would you share your thoughts with the class?"
Em smirked. "I think we all know that breathing exercises would be usless for me. I'm an old cripple just like Mr. Moaan," I snapped. The class laughed and my friend, Bella, stared at me like I'd just shoved six pencils up my nose. "We all know I'm going nowhere." Mrs. Anne sighed and sat down behind her desk.
The bell rang, dismissing us for the day. Just as I headed for the door, Mrs. Anne spoke. "Em Shan, stay here." Bella looked at me, her eyes sending the message you're screwed.
