Chapter 3

"Tide, did you feel that?"

I nodded my head, while constant vibrations were felt in the water.

My large fluke swayed back and forth, as I pinpointed where the wave of the vibrations came from.

"Isla stay here okay" I ordered, with a concerned look on my face, before swimming off to check out the source.

Not knowing if it was something dangerous, I swiftly maneuvered pass the stones and seaweed; while staying hidden.

Curiously peeking behind a large stone, I watched both the newcomers from a safe distance.

They both looked on edge, I moved through the water as swiftly as possible, but they seemed as if they were waiting for something dangerous to jump out.

I started to show myself, but before I did Isla wondered out in the open, her face lit up at the new arrivals, she swam quickly towards them.

" Tide wait, you idiot!" I shouted while revealing my position.

Perseus, clutched onto Primus as he looked between me, and Isla.

We all stared each other down, neither of us backing down.

Isla spoke first, her dark hair flowed loosely in the water.

"Nice to meet you two, I'm Isla" she introduced herself.

"This is Tide, he's a bit cautious" she giggles as she introduces me.

"Stop being so trusting, our kinds don't mix," I said while glaring at the two open ocean mermen.

"Says the deep water fish" Primus shot back with a look of suspicion.

"How did you get caught anyway? loner," Primus questioned with an attitude.

"I have no reason to share my story with you" I muttered as I took a hold of Isla hand.

"We'll stay to ourselves" I stated before pulling Isla away.

She couldn't help but look back at them, as I pulled her to a safer place.

She got unbelievably quiet, I looked towards her, she looked at me with a look of sadness.

"What is it now?" I questioned.

"Will we be stuck in this glass cage forever?" She asked with a shaky voice.

"I'll find a way to get us free" I reassured her as I pulled her in for a hug.

"Listen to me, and we'll both survive" I whispered in her ear.

I pulled her downwards, hoping and praying it was safe. It was pitch black below us, both our eyes and tails had a striped glow to them.

Isla had a green glow, while mine had a blue glow to it.

Unlike other Merfolk, deep water merpeople, can see and survive in deep waters.

"We'll be safe from the open water fish, we're stronger then their kind anyway" I assured her as we stopped and stared at each other.

"I'm hungry tide" she mumbled as her stomach rumbled.

"What to do about food?" I questioned with no clue in my mind.
