Dude give it a rest. The girl took the knife from the wall, and threw it at his shoulder. I was too caught up with trying to unsee what I had just saw to move. Tingles built up in my body. The brown-haired girl marched to the girl and took of the mask he had been wearing.
"Doug?"
"Cait."
Now irritated, I kicked another knife out of his hands, picked it up, and hit him upside the head with the blunt end. Out of the blue, blood dripped down the side of my face. My hand gazed a section of my ear which felt scratched by the knife.
When he woke, the man tried to struggled through thick ropes. The girl beside me squinted, trying to intimidate him, but I think tying him down was enough to unsettle him.
"Just give up. You're already defeated." I announced.
"I'm not here to kill you. I'm here to kill her." He pointed at the girl who was now hiding in the shadows, scared.
It had seemed that they had known each other. His name was Douglas Conaway, and he knew her because they had dated. Cait, which was her name, had made allies with a group of scavengers a couple years ago. At the time, she was always one to help find food, and wood, and gained all the trust of each scavenger. Of course, one of those friends got a little too friendly, but in just the right time, Douglas found her and saved her. From then on, he promised to protect her. Now, he has broke that promise.
"What happened to make you break that promise?" I asked.
"Why don't you let Cait answer that." I looked over at Cait's way. She stayed silent and bowed her head a little more. It was new to see her like this, not in fight mode at all times. But, I could imagine her doing something bad enough to make someone want to hurt her. Then again, I met her yesterday.
"What would get you to stop wanting to kill her?" I wondered, ready to compromise.
"An apology." He declared.
"An apology? That's easy, Cait, all you need to do is apologize." Douglas leaned back and raised his eyebrows. Silence clouded out patience as Cait hesitated to open her mouth. Finally, she took a deep breath.
"I'm," Doug and I leaned in, "not saying i'm sorry. You deserved what you got, you owe me an apology."
"Seriously, what happened between you two?"
Cait began.
