"Julian, you're great and all," I said tugging on my pants and soon after, my socks, "but we might be in a little disagreement."
He was sprung out on the small bed while I made myself a spot on the edge. My fingers wrapped around a sharp surprise inside my sneaker. I peered over my shoulder and notice Julian humming to himself like a clueless, happy idiot.
"What do you mean, Danny?" His eyes were closed as if he was reliving our scene together.
"I don't like how you run this town. It separates families and kills innocent people. Some of which are children." He didn't seem bothered by my opinion. Instead, he let a flirty attitude slip past.
"And what are you gonna do about it?" His shoulder bones rolled as he made his way towards me once more. For some reason, he didn't come off as attractive to me anymore. After the sexual tension eased, he came off as creepy. It wouldn't be hard to follow through with my plan then.
"Hmmm I don't know maybe I could-" I swiftly threw my knife across his throat causing him to choke on his own clotting blood. I gasped for air just like he did except I was able to breathe it in. I held my neck just as he held his. His hand soaked in blood as mine was clean. Some would say it's a traumatic experience to watch as someone dies right before your eyes, but I acted upon this death and I've seen worse ways to be killed.
I was careful with my step when I made my way down the stairs of my past. My feet were quiet, but I still had the attention of everyone who waited for me. They didn't look happy in my presence, more worried "Is everyone ok?" Doug raced to me.
"Shouldn't we be asking you that? What happened up there?" He wondered.
"Justice was served." I simply said. I settled down on the couch with everyone else. Douglas followed after.
"What's with all the gloomy faces?" Everyone looked around at each other. Ruby, Doug, Belle. And that's when I realized who was missing in action. But, where had Cait gone?
"We thought you were a goner. Cait went stomping up there to find you and finish the job. I'm sure she has all the keys now and she wants to keep the town at war." I didn't see her went I came down or when I was with Julian. So, she must've been lost in the maze of rooms, but I do wonder what would have happened if she found me. I rushed upstairs hoping to catch Cait once more.
I barged into the room I was present only minutes ago. Silence crawled in like snake building up. Cait's presence was a pressure on my back. I knew she was here and the agony of silence would reveal her. My soft stride should've been pounding her head just like it was mine.
"Cait?" I howled. "Know what you're looking for and I have it." In between my fingers was the rusty key Julian had possessed before me. She had the first key, but I had the second and third. "I guess Doug was right. He knew you would do this. I had more faith in you." I waited as no noise left the room. Carefully, I searched for the small body who hid in the shadows. Outside, the sun was ready to set. I had to take action quickly before it was too late. "I'm also the one with the last key." Those words were what carried out Cait. She took a leap onto me. I forced her off of me with more strength than I thought I had. She attacked with hits and fast kicks. I didn't want to fight back, so I tried to hold myself together.
Suddenly, she pulled a knife to me. Just as she was prepared to stab me, I pinned her down and took the knife. Then, was the debate about how I would carry my decision. However, there was no debate. I released the weapon from my hand, "I'm not killing you." I confirmed. My hand reached into her pocket, and out pulled the metal key that would conclude the fate of the town. "You can still join us, Cait. It's your choice."
