The next morning on base was emotional tears streamed down my face uncaring of the troop's on base as they bid me farewell one of their own was leaving decked out in their full uniforms guns in hand trumpets playing and singing me farewell
Army Blue
lyrics by George T. Olmsted, L.W. Becklaw, et al; music by George R. Poulton [nb: although the origin of this song is unknown, an 1846 poem mentions it, then it was performed at the 1865 graduation, but its rendition is limited to special or sentimental occasions; apparently adapted from the old melody of "Aura Lea"]
We've not much longer here to stay,
For in a month or two
We'll bid farewell to Kaydet Gray,
And don the Army Blue.Army Blue, Army Blue,
Hurrah for the Army Blue,
We'll bid farewell to Kaydet Gray,
And don the Army Blue. With pipe and song we'll jog along,
Till this short time is through,
And all among our jovial throng
Have donned the Army Blue.Army Blue, Army Blue,
Hurrah for the Army Blue,
We'll bid farewell to Kaydet Gray,
And don the Army Blue.'Twas the song we sang in old plebe camp,
When first our Gray was new.
The song we sang on summer nights,
That song of Army Blue.Army Blue, Army Blue,
Hurrah for the Army Blue,
We'll bid farewell to Kaydet Gray,
And don the Army Blue. Now, fellows, we must say good-bye,
We've stuck our four years through,
Our future is a cloudless sky,
We'll don the Army Blue.Army Blue, Army Blue,
Hurrah for the Army Blue,
We'll bid farewell to Kaydet Gray,
And don the Army Blue.To the men and women of the Corps
Who've seen their four years thru
The work was hard, they did their part
and all for Army Blue.Army Blue, Army Blue,
Hurrah for the Army Blue,
We'll bid farewell to Kaydet Gray,
And don the Army Blue.Driving to the airport a quite reminisce of my life in the US army the good the bad and then the ugly the scar's on my soul and the last memory of my team the attack of the hostel forces the torture we went through the memory cut short by a voice telling me to breathe
God damn it Mac breath! look at me yes that's it in and out just follow me that's it breathe in breathe out your okey Mac it's going to be okey
Taking wat feels like hours to regulate my breathing my heart pounding in my ears and chest I'm okey ,I'm not their anymore I'm in the car with Maddox on our way to the airport not a dirty foul smelling basement finely feeling able to breathe
Sorry I'm sorry Mad you didn't need to see me like that
No Mac there's no need to apologize you scared the shit out of me though ,we are almost there then you can rest on the plane your as white as a ghost
Only at the mention of plane did I finally realize that I don't know were Antony lived I never asked in fear that he would of asked me were i was from
Summoning enough courage to ask the dreaded question ,so mad tell me about your home I know that you said theirs sun ,see and surf but that's all I know
Finally seeing the worry ebb away from his face the frown between his eyes relax the excitement suddenly shooting beam's out of his whole frame well home is in Charleston South Carolina I have a piece of heaven on the beach your going to love it god the fresh air I can't wait we are going to have so much fun
Wow sounds like a great place a little stunned by his enthusiasm I can't help feeling excitement build
With the airport in view we get our tickets and soon we are on our way into a new beginning a new chapter of my life
