HAYDEN'S POV

We fly down the stairs and we're the first ones to the table, practically running over Kasey's younger brother and sister in the process.

"Man! You girls must be hungry!" Mr.Daniels says as we arrive to the table. "We always are." I say with my tummy growling just in time.

"We are two 16 year old teenage girls, what do you expect?" Kasey asks. "Awe, you still going through puberty?" Kasey's brother asks in a bay-like mocking tone.

Kasey glares at her brother and quickly snaps; "I don't know, why don't you check your ding-a-ling and you tell me."

Arguments like this happen a lot between them two and they usually last a few minutes. But while they were bickering and yelling rude comments at each other, Kasey's 9 year old sister, Ryann, tugged on my shirt sleeve. I looked down at her. "What's up Ry?" I asked her. She put her knees on her chair to give her a boost so she could reach my ear. She cupped her hands around my ear and whispered: "Hay, what's puberty?"

I couldn't help but chuckle a little as I looked down at her. Her hazel eyes twinkled in curiosity.

"It's a part in everyone's life where boys turn to men and girls turn to women. Your body goes through changes to help you adjust to this new role. However, girls go through different changes than boys. And let me tell you a little secret. Boys are so slow at it! Girls have already turned into women while the boys are still... boys." I answer her truthfully, trying to spare her the details about exactly what changes happen and where.

She smiles a huge smile and giggles. I look at her as she laughs and wish that she won't grow up because she's getting "the talk" this year and I don't want her to be scarred or corrupted because she's so innocent.

By this point, Kasey and Braxton are still arguing and Mrs.Daniels finally has enough of it. "Kasey and Braxton Daniels for crying out loud, stop fighting and sit down at the table!"

Kasey gave Braxton one of her "I hate you looks" and he returned the favor by sticking his tongue out at her.

The siblings finally take their seats, Kasey sits on the other side of me, opposite of Ryann and Braxton sits across from me with Mr. and Mrs.Daniels filling in the seats around.

"I didn't have anytime to make dinner so I just ordered pizza's. We got cheese, pepperoni and three meats. So, dig in." Mrs.Daniels says.

Us four "young people" (as my grandma would always say) jumped up and sprinted to the counter to grab our pizza's, with the parents following not too far behind.

Kasey grabbed a slice of pepperoni and Braxton got a slice of three meats. I opened the box containing the cheese, grabbed a medium sized slice and plopped it on the multi-colored paper plates that had "Happy Birthday!" plastered on the front. These were old plates that were left over from Ryann's 9th birthday party a few months ago.

Ryann pulled on my shirt sleeve again but this time, asked me if I could get her a slice as well. I bent down so I could reach her 4"2 height. What kind do you want Ry Ry?" She thinks for a moment and then answers, "Cheese, please!" She laughs. "Haha that rhymes!" She says happily. I couldn't help but laugh along at how adorable she is.

I grabbed her a slice and put it on her plate. She thanked me and we walked back to the table together.

The five of us, (Kasey, Braxton, Ryann, Mr.Daniels and I) started eating our pizza's with Mrs.Daniels slowly walking back to the table. She sat down and only poked and moved around her slice.

I was about to ask her if she was okay but Mr.Daniels beat me to it. "You alright, darling?" She quickly looked up at her husband, "Yea, I'm fine. Totally fine." She lied. "I know when you're lying, dear. What's wrong?" He asked. "Oh, nothing." She lied again.

"Mom, are you seriously still upset at the fact that Devyn and I aren't dating? Because if that's true, you need to let it go." Kasey told her mom, getting the hint that's why her mom was upset.

"Yea, I know. I was just really happy that a really nice boy liked you and you liked him back." Mrs.Daniels answers her.

"Well, don't hold your breath, mom." Braxton says wickedly. Mrs.Daniels looks at her son confused. "And why's that Brax?"

"Because Kasey has a crush on Kameron Wells- the most popular guy in school."

"BRAXTON!" Kasey yells.

"How do you know that?" I ask him, with a touch of attitude in it.

"Don't act like you don't know. I heard you two going googly eyes over your crushes. Talking about how hot they are, all the sports they're involved in, their personalities and how, and I quote, "cute their butts look."

Kasey rolls her eyes and runs off. "Oh, and Hayden?" Braxton asks. "Yes?" I say. "Caspar Parker? Really? You know, come to think of it, I could actually see you two together." I couldn't help but blush. "Thanks Braxton. I should really go check on Kasey."

I got up and started running in the direction Kasey went it. But walked back, grabbing our slices of pizza before chasing after my best friend.
