Vicesimus Sextus

There was once a boy
who had everything.

He had looks
that others
could only dream of

He had a
bright smile that
lit up the dimmest of parties

He had skill
and athleticism that
called the attention of many

He had various talents
that would put
so-called prodigies to shame

He was also a boy
who knew everything.

He knew how
others' faces would
scrunch up in jealousy

He knew how
others would fake a smile
then gossip behind him

He knew how
everyone was watching
his every move

He knew how
everyone was waiting
for him to make a mistake

And he knew firsthand how
expectations could kill
a person

He knew it...
Without anybody else's help.

He died of suffocation
on the noose, after all.
