Harry's POV

---

When I heard the noise of glass shatter, I almost ran in the room to see what had happened. But I kept myself hidden. Right now.. I was hiding in the restroom. Behind the door to be specific.

I had clenched my fist so hard my knuckles were white. I couldn't really make out what they were saying. But sooner or later, I saw Mason run down the stairs and slam the door. Hard.

I tip toed up the stairs and peeked into the room. Kat was on the floor, her head buried in her knees. She was crying.. a lot. I looked around the room.

No broken window

No broken glass

Nothing.

"Kat?" I whispered. She looked up. Her eyes swollen red and puffy. "H-Harry.." She cried. I ran over to her and grabbed her. I hugged her tight. "Are you okay?" I whispered into her ear. She nodded slowly.

"C-can I borrow your phone?" I looked at her a bit strangely. "Wheres yours?" She got up and grabbed my hand. I stood up, she pointed out the window. I peeked out. All I could see was white glass shattered everywhere.

"H-he did that?" I said, getting really pissed off. She nodded. "Harry p-please calm down. I-I just need to call my mom.." She whispered.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and handed it to her. She dialed in a number and put it to her ear. She sat on the bed. I laid down and pulled her over to me. she laid her head on my shoulder. I smiled but listened to her phone call. I wasn't trying to be snoopy though.

"Hello? Who's this?" I heard Kat's mom on the other line.

Kat bit her lip before speaking. "M-mom?"

"Katerina? Are you okay sweetie!? What's wrong!?"

"M-mom calm down I-I'm fine. M-Mason threw my phone out the window. S-so I'm using Harry's for now.."

"He did what!? I'm calling the police now!"

Before Kat could speak I covered the phone. "Let her." She nodded and took a deep breath before I removed my hand from the phone.

"Okay.. when is dad coming home?"

Dad? Is he hurt? Navy? Army? Hmm, wonder what happened..

"I'll tell you when I get home." I heard her mom say quickly then hang up. Kat kept the phone at her ear, then slowly lowered it down.

I pulled her on top of me and hugged her tight. She was laying on my chest looking out the window. "Do you ever get the feeling something bad is gonna happen.. but not know when?"

She asked. I just stared at her. "Sometimes. Why?" She shook her head slowly. "Kat?" I said not taking my eyes off of her.

"Hmm?" She mumbled. "What happened to your dad?" She took a deep breath then sat up. I sat up also, she was still sitting on me. She took another deep breath and looked at me.

"Well.. when I was 8, he was diagnosed with cancer. He got better and it eventually went away. But when I was 13.. he was diagnosed again. It had spread towards his lungs and he couldn't breath on his own anymore. He was in and out of the hospital. They keep saying he doesn't have much longer, but I don't want that thought in my head.."

She wiped a tear. I stared at her, I can't even imagine what it's like to be going through something like that. She laughed. "Come on.." She grabbed my hand and pulled me downstairs.

We went to the bookshelves in the living room. There were pictures lined across every shelf. She pointed to one. "That.. was my 10th birthday. He was in the hospital so I had it there. But only me, mom and him."

I smiled looking at little Katerina. "This one.. is when he got out of the hospital the first time. I was so happy to finally have him back." She smiled. I just stared at her.

She kept looking at pictures. I ran over to her and picked her up. "New plan. Lets go on a picnic." She smiled. "Well I'm free tomor-" I covered her mouth. "No. Now. Go change and I'll be RIGHT back okay? Don't get into too much trouble now!" I set her down, grabbed my keys and ran out the door.
