Shannon was in the hospital for 3 days recovering. Some friends of ours went to our house and cleaned up for us. They fixed the wall where the bullet hit it and cleaned up blood. When Shannon was released I took care of him. He was in a lot of pain and the doctor said he would be for a while. My nose was hurting but I knew I would be okay. I was just relieved it was all over. The detective showed up at our house a couple of days after Shannon came home from the hospital. D"You were so brave! If it wasn't for you there is no telling what would have happened." Steven had killed the cop sitting outside the house and somehow got in without our alarm going off. Me"I am so sorry about the officer. I feel so terrible about him." The detective just looked down. D"I hate that it happened too. He was a good guy." I offered him some coffee and we talked more about what would happen in the future. D"I really hate to put you guys through anything else but we will need you to come to the trial." I did not want to face Steven in court but I wanted him locked up. Me"Of course we will." After the detective left I went to our bedroom and snuggled up beside Shannon. I looked at him and he was sleeping so good. I was so happy he was okay. He opened his eyes and said "I love you." Me"I love you too. So much. Thank you for not leaving my side this entire time." S"Thank you for saving me." I kissed him and we fell asleep in each other's arms. We slept the entire night finally feeling safe. When I woke up I made breakfast and brought it up to Shannon. He ate and seemed to be feeling better. I helped him into the shower and we spent the day together lying in bed and watching movies. I was hoping that now life would maybe be a little more normal. It would take some time to get over all of this but I knew Shannon and I would help each other as much as we could.
