A few weeks passed and Shannon was feeling better and had recovered. We both were still having nightmares and felt like moving would be the best idea. Even though we had not lived in the house long there was just too many bad memories here. We sold the house and moved into a new house across town. S"These past few months have been so bad. We have been through so much together." Me"We really have. Thank you for being there." He kissed me and I knew that he really did love me. We had been together almost two years when he proposed to me. I was elated. I knew I wanted to spend my life with him. He made me happy and I loved him. Finally the day came for Steven's trial. I did not want to face him. When we walked in the court room he was sitting there glaring at me. Shannon whispered to me "it will be okay he can't hurt you here." I squeezed Shannon's hand and just nodded. When it was my turn to take the stand I told my story and everything that happened. I was so nervous. I was scared he was going to break free and kill me right there on the spot. Luckily he just sat there silently beside his lawyer. Grace's family and the cop's families were there also. They wanted to see him locked away for the rest of his life. The first day of the trial ended and we went home. Shannon had to take the stand the next morning and he was nervous too. S"you did good today." Me"Thank you, Shan." S"I am so nervous about tomorrow." Me"Don't be. You will do great." That night I dreamed Steven got off and left the court room a free man. I woke up scared. I looked over and Shannon was asleep and I knew I just had a bad dream. I woke up early and made coffee and went to my music room and started writing. That was my way of coping with all of this. Shannon woke up a few hours later and we got ready and went back to the court house for the second day of the trial.
