chapter five: he doesn't seem harmless

Neither Peter nor Jacob expected to fall asleep like that. But they did. And when they woke up, Peter was curled up into Jacob with his head tucked into his neck, and Jacob was wrapped around his boyfriend.

"Jake? Jake, wake up," Peter whispered.

He woke with a start, "Huh? What?"

Peter giggled and said, "We have to go to school." He started to get up, but Jacob immediately pulled him back down on top of him.

"No we don't," he groaned and kissed a very flustered Peter on the forehead. "Let's just stay here all day." He tried to get up again but this time failed because Jacob held onto his waist and whispered, "Stay."

After about fifteen more minutes of this, the two finally got up from Peter's bed and got ready for school. They left in just enough time for Jacob to walk Peter to school (I know he actually rides the subway but shhhhh).

"So, boyfriend, you gonna tell me why you left our first date so quickly yet?" Jacob said as he slipped his hand around Peter's and adjusted the tight t-shirt of Peter's that he was wearing. Thankfully Peter had some sweatpants that weren't super tight, so his goods weren't on display.

"I-I, uh," he paused, trying to come up with a believable lie, but thankfully, "Oh, you know what? We have reached our destination. Or, mine at least. Yup. This would be my school."

They stopped and Jacob rolled his eyes, "I know this is your school. Why can't you just tell me?"

"I have my reasons. I promise I'll tell you soon," he said and immediately regretted it. How was he supposed to tell his boyfriend that he's Spider-Man? That would put him in so much danger, but it could all be avoided if he just kept it a secret.

"Fine. will I see you after school?"

"If May doesn't ground me, possibly."

"Okay, text me," he leaned down slightly and kissed Peter, who kissed back without any hesitation at all.

"Yo, Penis Parker!" Peter quickly turned around and went red in the face. "You gay?" It was Flash. When he didn't respond, Flash scoffed, "Fa--" but stopped when he saw the look on Jacob's face.

"You wanna finish that?" Jacob cracked his knuckles and Flash walked away hurriedly. Peter looked down at his shoes as Jacob said, "Tell me if he messes with you, okay? I'll kick his ass."

"He's harmless, really."

"He doesn't seem harmless." Jacob glared in Flash's general direction for a second before he kissed his boyfriend again. This kiss was a bit longer and felt more like a "I really don't want to leave," "Please don't go," kiss. But, unfortunately, it had to end and Jacob had to leave in order to make it to his school in time for first hour. Right before Jacob turned around, he winked at someone. Peter furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and turned around.

Crap. It was MJ.

She stood there in shock for a moment until she finally managed to form words with her mouth. "Are you...and him...what?"

"Um, yeah. But you can't tell anyone, okay? I'm already hated enough as it is." He readied himself to receive anger and homophobia, so he was definitely surprised by her response.

"So, you're dating Jacob Raymond." He nodded. "My best friend."

"Wait, what?"

"Jacob's my best friend. You know, you guys are kind of cute." She walked away after giving him a small smile. And, for Peter, everything was starting to come together: Jacob knowing his last name, MJ asking about his sweatshirt, that he wears to bed every night but would never admit it to anyone because he'd seem like a clingy and obsessive boyfriend, and Jacob knowing what school he goes to.

Shit, things just got a lot more complicated.
