Althea One: Nothing more than dead all around

I was leaning on the wall next to the entrance doors, waiting for the rest of the crew. We all of weird names that mean different elements in a different language, so we all created code names. I liked the name Althea so that's what I'm referred as. My long white hair that faded to a light red flowed like the wind. My eyes glowing a slight pink color as well as a deep red.

The tall mischievous, black headed Si came into view. His eyes were a deep blue color, and his smile melts my heart faster than the sun could.

"Hey Althea," he said slightly waving at me.

"Have you seen Nova or Buki?" I asked.

"They're studying under the bleachers, for the huge science test" he answered rubbing the back of his neck.

"Of course they are," I said,"those two seem to always wait tell last minute,"

"Did you study for the science test?" he asked.

"I don't need to, I've got everything memorized already. You?"

"I get bad grades anyway, so I don't care. Plus, you don't need good grades to be a good bank robber," he said sounding too serious.

"I'll help," I replied with a slight smile.

"Hey," Nova's voice yelled. I glanced over the huge crowd of kids, seeing Buki and Nova holding science books running our way. Nova was medium height, her hair was blonde but it faded to blue tips. Her eyes are two different colors like mine, but hers are green and blue. She had a scar over her right eye, for reasons she didn't want to share. They ran over to us.

"Were you guys actually studying?" I asked crossing my arms.

"Half and half," Buki replied sounding honest.

Nova hit him really hard on the shoulder. We walked into the school and almost immediately after they announced something.

"They're everywhere. Run! Ahhhh," the speakers blared until the went silent.

I looked at Nova, then over at Si.

"Get to the science classroom!" I told them as we all started running. They were unusually calm, I found that fascinating.

I said the science classroom because if this were to be real we wouldn't want to go out in the open, we would need a place to settle and be quiet then make a plan. Our four member team rushed into the science classroom. I locked the door behind us, shutting the lights dim. Nothing was in the classroom meaning unless these monsters could tear a door down they won't be able to get in.

We all ran over to the window to peer outside, kids were hoarding out of the building. There was someone that looked like they just got hosed down waiting by the gate. People went rushing by it and it tackled one of the people running out of the gate. This thing bit into this person's neck, tearing out their flesh. Then took another bite, then another until the person's head came off.

"What is this thing?" Nova asked as a silent tear fell down her face.

"Don't worry, everything will be okay," Buki reassured her.

This hosed down monster jumped off of the dead corps and went to go find another. The person who was currently missing a head started to ooze a liquid, like water, then it sat up. It's neck started to steam, seeming to heal themself. Then it started growing another head but it didn't have any slots for eyes. Not even a nose, it had two holes for a nose instead. It's jaw was bigger than the other normal ones.

"It just regenerated," Si said slightly shaking.

"We have to figure out how to kill them, then we need a plan to escape," I said firmly but quietly. We heard a ear-splitting scream, coming from the hallway.

"How can you be so calm," Nova said, tears falling."That person just died trying to escape, and now they're like them."

I hugged her, squeezing her tightly."Don't worry, we'll escape this. Why?" I asked.

"Because we'll burn them to death," she told me slightly laughing but also still crying.

My real name is Kasia, which means fire in another language I forgot. Nova's real name is Yuki, which means snow in the same language. Si's real name is Mizu which means water. Then Buki's real name is Ishi, which mean stone.

"We just need to figure out how to kill them," I said.

"Maybe they're like zombie's, bash them in the head and they die," Buki suggested.

"We just found out that monsters are roaming, and killing people. How are you so calm?" Si asked, his hands were clamping up into fists.

I looked over at Si,"it's because denying human nature would be the best thing to do at the moment. If we freak out we're likely to end up dead." I stated nothing but the truth, but there is only real reason I'm not freaking out. I've seen enough blood in my parents line of work.

"No, no, this can't be happening. I woke up this morning right, maybe it's just a dream," Nova said falling to the floor on her knees. Her tears streaming.

"All we can do now is survive," I said walking over to our teachers cabinets. I opened them finding golf gear. Our teacher was the coach of our golfing team, so naturally he would have golfing gear.

I picked up one of them, the one with the biggest top that is used to hit the golf balls. I looked back at my friends. Buki would be the best with a close range weapon, I would probably be the best with a long range one. Si can be the one to help us break into places, then Nova. Maybe she could take her pain and anger out on these things with a golfing stick.

"The only way to get out of this mess, is to fight," I told them seriously, I looked over my shoulder and back at them when I said that.
