Finn's POV

I grabbed a radio off of the man's side and turned it on.

"Hello? Is anyone there? Please, is anyone there?!" I said.
"Squad 16, this is HQ. What can we do for you?" A male voice came through the radio.
"Oh thank god! Can you please help us sir, we don't know what's happening."
"Excuse me? Who is this?! Where are my men?!" The voice yelled through at me.
"Dead. The Changed got them." I said.
"The Changed?! Boy, they're just called zombies."
"Who the hell cares?! Listen, can you please just help us. My name is Finn Wolfhard, I have my friends Millie, Gaten, Caleb, Sadie, Maddie, Noah, and Jacob here. Can you please help us sir?" I asked.
"Fine kid. I'll send a car down to pick you and your friends up at the school and bring you here. This whole thing just started so hopefully I can trust you. Because my trust, is a lot now.

I put the radio in my pocket  and looked around.

"What even happened? Like, how the hell did this happen?" Noah asked.
"I don't know." I said.

Jacob was sitting on the front step of the school with Maddie, while the rest of us talked. Eventually he came over and pulled Millie to the side.

"Millie, listen. I don't know what I did, but I'm sorry for whatever it was. I really am!"

I couldn't help but overhear their conversation.

"That's the thing! You're clueless Jacob! You should know what you did and this time it's being a bad boyfriend. I would have expected you so save me from the explosion, but no, it was Finn because Finn would probably BE a good boyfriend, and he would protect me! She yelled at him.

Millie stormed off around the corner of the school. I ran past Jacob around the corner to see Millie sitting on the bleachers of our football field crying. I walked over and sat next to her.

"You okay?" I asked.
"No. I'm not okay. Not with him. A relationship should make the people in it happy. That's how it started, but now it's just Jacob, Jacob, and even more Jacob. All he cares about is himself. You though, you heard what I said about you. You actually care about other people and not just yourself. You and Caleb are two of the most selfless people I know. That's why you are my closest friend Finn. You understand me." She explained.

She stopped and looked at me with tears down her face and a half smile on her face. As if to say, thank you. I felt a tear in my eye as I pulled her into a hug.

"I'm sorry Millie. I hate seeing you this way. You're just always so happy, but all I've seen of you is this lately. I haven't seen the happy Millie until that smile of hope you flashed me a second ago. I'm happy you told me all that." I explained.

I pulled away from the hug and Millie just stared at me. She had a bright pink blush on her cheeks.

"Guys!" Gaten yelled.

I looked over to Gaten and saw two cars. Millie and I ran over and got into the back of one with Gaten and Noah. While Jacob, Maddie, Sadie, and Caleb got in the other. I sat in the back middle with millie on my right and Gaten on my left.

"It's a long ride, you guys might just want to chill." The driver said.

He wore a pair of sunglasses with a casual outfit. He pressed a button on the main console and music began to play. I felt kinda tired. I think we all were from what happened at the school. I felt Millie's head rest against my shoulder as I fell asleep.

Sadie's POV

I was never a fearless kid. I always had something to fear whether it be heights, planes, the dark, you name it. All of those things gave me short panic attacks when I was little. But, now that doesn't happen so much. I noticed these little things stop one by one after I moved here, and met Caleb. He just makes me feel safe. For someone like me, always worrying about something, it makes you feel good to know that you have such a protective person by your side. I sat in the back left with Caleb in the middle and Maddie on his other side. I took off my seat belt and curled up into a ball, letting my head lay on Caleb's lap. He twirled with my hair until I fell asleep.

Finn's POV

I woke up around three hours later and Millie's head was still on my shoulder and I somehow had my arm around her. I looked down at her and she was awake. Noah and Gaten were still out cold.

"Penny for your thoughts?" I asked.
"Oh, hey Finn. I'm just thinking about everything. How this even happened. Where is our government? Where are the military or police?" She said.
"Listen guys. All that matters now is survival. The government is split and the military is trying to fight back but this thing is big. Our scientists back at HQ say that they've been in contact with other scientists in states as far as Missouri and they say that the epidemic has reached over there too. Glendale is overrun. We fortified an apartment building and now it's our safe haven. We have around a forty citizens in the building then our men and others. The building is seven stories with four apartments on each so you all could fit in one apartment." The driver explained.
"Thanks for doing this. Even though you guys killed everyone else." Millie said.
"What? Killed everyone?" The driver said.
"Yeah? You're guys went ape-shit killing all the kids." I said.
"Wow. They weren't supposed to. It was a rescue mission." He said.
"Too late now I guess."

I looked at Millie who was sitting up, staring at me.

"Why do you keep staring at me?" I asked.
"I don't know." She said.

Then leaned her head back on my shoulder and fell asleep again.
