Sadie's POV

I woke up to talking out in the living room and walked out of my room. Everybody except for Jacob was sitting talking.

"Morning sleepyhead." Caleb said.
"Morning." I greeted, flashing him a smile.

I walked over and sat beside Caleb and talked with the group. Finn got up of the couch a couple minutes later to go make breakfast. He cracked a couple eggs and made omelets for everyone. We all sat and ate our breakfast.

"I have a feeling we are going to enjoy living here." Gaten chimed up.
"I hope. That Joe guy is hot." Maddie said.
"You know you're fifteen and he's like twenty-five right." Finn laughed.
"You wouldn't understand. Maddie said with a giant grin.
"It's girl stuff." Millie said.
"We crush on the older guys." I piped up, laughing.
"Whatever." Finn said.
"I'm just happy that we're all safe." Noah said.

Just then like a jinx, we heard a scream from outside. We all rushed downstairs and out the door. The gate was open and several zombies roamed the street.

"Shit." Noah said.

We rushed to the gun shelter across the street, but halfway across the street we got split up. Caleb, Noah and I got cut off from the rest of the group ad forced down the street. We ran into the apartment building and shut the door. Noah and Caleb held it shut while I looked for a weapon around the lobby. I searched the couch and the cabinet.

"Sadie, hurry!" Noah said.

I ran over to the desk and looked under the front part. There was a pistol hidden in the back. I clicked the safety off and aimed at the door.

"Let them in!" I yelled.

They moved from the door and the zombies pushed it open. I aimed and pulled the trigger, but the noise that came from the gun was a click. It had no ammo. The zombies rushed in and pushed us back to the elevator. A couple moved ahead of the others, blocking the staircase. I pushed the button for the elevator waiting for it to come down from our floor. They got closer and closer.

"COME ON DAMNIT!" Caleb yelled.

He kicked one of the zombies back and it caused a short domino track of zombies. The elevator just came and we got in. We jammed the close door button. One of the zombies came ahead and got lodged between the doors as they shut. The motion sensor made the door open again, so Caleb kicked the zombie in the head.

"We're so FUCKED!" Noah cried.

Me and Caleb started to push them back. We held them off as long as we could until I got tired out. Caleb kept pushing against them. One of the zombies jumped on top of him and two more came in. Noah pushed one back while I kicked the other in the legs and stomped on it's head. The lobby was full until zombies started to drop left and right. The zombies in front of us dropped dead and Caleb pushed the one on top of him off and stomped it's head in.  looked and saw Finn in the lobby door with a machine gun. He switched the magazine as he waved us over. We walked back out and the street was covered in dead zombies.

"Get this." Finn started.
"What happened?" Noah asked.
"The guards went on a quick break and while they did, a kid with blond-brown hair opened the gate and snuck out, then didn't close it. The guards never came back from the break, fell asleep or something and the place got invaded. Somebody went out to look for Jacob." Finn explained.
"The little bitch." Millie said.
"Hey guys. I found him." The walkie squeaked.
"Where?" Finn asked.
"About a quarter mile north-west from the gate. Get here fast." The guard said.

We ran over and hopped in a truck. Gaten, Caleb, Noah, Maddie and I sat in the back of the pickup while Finn drove and Millie sat in the passenger seat.

Millie's POV

"I hope he's dead." I said to Finn.
"Millie, don't be that way. Don't let him change the nice Millie bad." Finn said.
"Finn! Look around! Does this look like a nice world to you?" I asked.
"No. But, just because everything's different doesn't mean you have to be too." Finn said.
"I'm sorry Finn. I just... I hate Jacob." I said.
"Welcome to our world." Finn laughed.

I chuckled a little. Finn drove for another minute until we saw our guy standing next to a tree. We pulled up and hopped out. Jacob sat against the tree, struggling to breathe. His eyes were losing color and his skin was extremely pale.

"What happened?" Caleb asked.
"I- I got bit by one of those things. It did something to me." Jacob explained.
"You got what was coming to you." I said.
"We saw this yesterday with another of our guys. If you're bit within eight hours you'll turn into one of those things." The guard explained.
"So what? He's going to die either way?" I asked.
"I'm afraid so."

I grabbed the guard's pistol and aimed at Jacob's head.

"JESUS MILLIE STOP!" Finn yelled.
"It's ok... I don't want to hurt anyone else." Jacob said.
"I don't want you to either." I said.
"I can't believe this." Sadie said.
"I wish I could have told you that you're dying a hero... but you're not." I told him.

He laughed as I shot him in the head. Finn shook his head and walked back to the truck. I ran back and got into the truck. Finn sighed.

"I guess it's too late for you Millie." He said.

A tear swelled in my eye as he turned over the engine and drove off.
