I went on a scavenger hunt for these social media stories to get an idea of how they're done. Most of them I never finished, mainly because they were for studying but a majority if them I completed. But there were a few things I noticed that were in almost all of them.

1. The main character (and the characters friends) are all white. Now, I didn't originally have a problem with that (I'm white too) but just seeing these face claims continuing to be white was annoying. Most of the girls look the same!! Add some variety! Intersectional feminism, y'all! (If you have a white OC don't feel bad! Just consider making a POC one! And if you do, make sure you're not stereotyping them, and if you want to incorporate their culture DO YOUR RESEARCH! Talk to people!)

2. The groupchats. I have nothing against these, dead serious. What was confusing to me was all of the different names. I could not - for the life of me - keep track of the names because they were all nicknames. I personally don't have nicknames for my friends in my phone. But maybe I'm the odd one out? Also sometimes they would change the name of a friend and the friend could see it? So it's not an imessage GC. Is it GroupMe? Who knows?

3. Terrible things being okay. Sometimes (well, to be honest I think I only saw this in one or two). But like, the guy would do something that is close to terrible and NO ONE WOULD LOOK AT IT AND GO "did he just? I think he just did..." like whatever the person did was completely OK and no one questioned it. Maybe it's just me and my college brain overthinking things

4. Life out in the media. I get it! Celebrities have their life out in the media and most of the things are not private. But a lot of the plot points that I feel should be intimate are in the Instagram comments. Like ??? Bish what? Why are you saying "please text me back. It's important" in the comments of and INSTAGRAM picture? (I made that quote up, so if anyone has that in their story. I did not take it from you and don't take it in the wrong manner).

5. Celebrities don't give their number out 15 minutes after talking to a fan or a person they just met (that isn't someone important...)

With all this shit being said, my goal in this fanfiction is to make it as realistic as possible for a fanfiction

With all this shit being said, my goal in this fanfiction is to make it as realistic as possible for a fanfiction. Meaning, there will be no handing out of cellular device numbers after they meet, there will be some nicknames but not the kinds that you normally see, their lives will be PRIVATE (I cannot stress that enough). You may be saying Renée! how in the world will a SM story work if the girls Instagram isn't public? And to that I say to you, read and find out!

(High key hope none of this came off as snarky lmao)
