I looked around the circle at Stan, Bill, Mike, Ben and Bev who were intently waiting for my announcement. I let it out in one breath
Richie: I like boys
Bev smiled and patted my back. The others seemed to have the same reaction
Stan: Congrats for being honest with yourself
Bill: We're p-proud of ya Rich
I took a breath of relief, I could hardly believe it
Richie: Your not mad... disgusted...?
Mike: I told you, Love is Love.
Bill: W-we'll always be here for y-you

Bev gave me a comforting side hug

Richie: That's a story for later... But I'm glad you guys are okay with me
Stan: Did you see Teresa again?
I rubbed the back of my head

Richie: I'm on my meds again and I sucks, but... I'm trying

Bill: Is th-there a reason you

Richie: Well... he's the reason I want to get better... and I don't want him to know just yet that I'm gay. I don't know what he'll think
Ben: You've got to be joking—
Bev: —Eddie is all over you. There's no way he wouldn't accept you.
Richie: But what if he's homophobic?
Bill let out a laugh
Bill: Trust m-me. Talk to him.

Not an hour later, I walked into Eddies house without knocking, like usual. I greeted his aunt on the way up stairs. Eddie was drawing on his bed, chewing on the eraser end of his pencil
Eddie: Hey Rich!
He greeted me excitedly with a wave. I smiled and sat across from him. I took the book he was drawing in and set it aside, but he didn't argue.
Richie: Can I tell you something?
Eddie: Of course
Richie: I'm gay
Eddie
A smile crept on my face, I couldn't hold it back.
Eddie: Can I tell you something?
Richie: Ya?
Eddie: I am too
He smiled and I think we both knew what the other was thinking
Richie: Really?! That's great Ed's!
He engulfed me in an unexpected hug. I blushed and snuggled my face into his shoulder, taking in his clean scent
