It's beautiful. I breathe in deeply, taking in the fresh air.  We just kept going,  got on a bus and didn't stop until we saw nothing familiar. And it felt good, really good, to just stop for a second.

"This is the place," I hear him say beside me. "This is where I want to be right now."

"Same," I grin, incapable of holding my face in any other position than joy.

We're in the countryside. Standing in a field. Looking out at a horizon I can't see what's over.

I sit by a tree, feeling the cold grass between my fingers as I lean back and embrace the sunlight. A clear blue sky stretches above us. The perfect day under any circumstance.

"Have you ever made a daisy chain?" I ask Jared. He quirks an eyebrow.

"No."

"Well, I guess... something new every day," I start picking the flowers that litter the grass. He just stares at me. "What are you waiting for? I'm not gonna carry your weight around here!" I shrug with a grin.

My hair falls in my eyes as I focus on pressing a hole in each stem. This field is full of daisies.

"We're doing whoever owns this land a favour..." I say to a still unmoving Jared who's just watching, his eyebrow raised still unsure of what I'm doing.

"How so?" he asks.

"The world is about to be invaded and taken over by daisies. Haven't you seen the news?" now I'm quirking my eyebrow.

He lets out a chuckle. It makes me freeze for a second as my heart flutters. This is him.

"Alright, but I'd say we're the ones in the wrong here. Daisies came first," he replies.

"Do you have any proof of that?" I feel fake fire enter my eyes as I focus on my chain lightheartedly.

He thinks for a second, tapping his chin with the daisy, leaving a bit of yellow behind as he did so. "I'm afraid not."

"Well then, your opinion is invalid," I grin.

He smirks, "My opinion is always valid, sweet cheeks."

I feel my cheeks glow red. Where the hell did that come from?

He seems a little taken aback by himself too, putting the daisy down and lying back on the grass. I take a moment before deciding to lie down next to him.

"You're allowed to be happy," I whisper.

He shuffles next to me.

"I guess so."

We stare at the empty blue sky for a while. The silence was comfortable, thoughtful, full of something I couldn't possibly describe. It wasn't beautiful, it wasn't ugly, and it certainly wasn't anything in between.

"So, are we gonna finish these chains," he grins, sitting up.

"I thought you'd never ask," I reply.

"How do you even do this?" he's focussed on the daisy, poking at it with his nail, bending it this way and that. I grab a daisy and hold it out in front of him.

"If you get your nail and pierce it just right..." I show him one, "you can get it, though it might take some practice."

"Hm, we might be here a while then..." he nods his head.

"Well, I'm ready to dedicate my time to this mission. Are you in my dude?" I say, very seriously, with a wink.

"Of course, this is what I've dreamed of my whole life," he whispers, returning his focus to the cursed flower.

-----

After about half an hours of dedication, I've made two crowns and a bracelet. Jared managed to make a small bracelet before giving up.

"How much time have you spent doing this?" he quizzes me from behind.

"An entire childhood of football practices and lonely lunchtimes," I smile at the memories.

"Sounds like you weren't the one playing football," he replies, focussed on what he's doing.

"Yeah, I was there for my older brother, as siblings do... What are you doing?" I turn around to find my face an inch from his. I gulp and pat my heart before moving back a bit. He has a bunch of daisies in his hands and one is in mid-air as if he was holding it up.

"I was putting daisies in your hair," he grins, and I feel my cheeks warm.

"Jeez, that's gonna be hard to clean out," I move my hand up to my hair only to have him grab my hand gently.

"Don't," he says, "it looks good. You're like a woodland fairy."

I gulp and turn away.

"Well, I guess you have to join me," I laugh, grabbing one of the crowns and placing it on his head. He looks cute.

"Aw, I'm beautiful now too!" he puts on a high pitched voice.

"Here, have this- it won't fit me," he pouts holding my wrist and pushing his daisy creation onto it. I can't stop smiling as I grab the bracelet I made.

"Girlll, don't worry your little heart on that! I gotchu!" I put on an extreme girl squad voice as I put it on his wrist, my fingers lingering on his rough but smooth skin. I look up to see more happiness in his eyes than I've seen in years, in anyone.

"Thank you," he murmurs, brushing my hair behind my ear. My heart can't seem to stop fluttering here on this field with him.

"We should name this field," I declare, waving my hands in the air.

"Well, there's only one name for it."

"What's that?" I ask.

"Daisy Chain fields," he laughs.

"That's such a shit name," I grumble.

"It's what it is though," he grins, "but I guess we could just call it ours."

My heart wrenches when he says it. His smile so serene that the world's trouble seem so small and far from here. That's it, it's our field. I close my eyes and lie back embracing the feelings he made me have. That boy is doing all kinds of things to my wee heart.

A/N: Hey! So here's another chapter. I'll try and update soon :)
