[Tori's POV]
I lugged myself out of bed, not bothering to change. I followed Scorcha lifelessly through the halls and sat at the table. People lined up, their chains clanking together for a heartless tune. I brought my head up and looked at the guy. He had hair as black as midnight and mint green eyes. I gasped.
"Pete?" I whispered.
His eyes met mine and he looked closer, making his face twist in a gruesome way.
"Tori?"
"B-But I thought you were living in London...dead?"
He nodded and I leaned forward, brushing my hands along his face. He purred in satisfaction and smiled.
"So what's your name?" I asked playfully.
"Pete Whispers."
"Date of birth and death?"
"Birth, Febuary 2nd, 1993. Death, June 4th, 2010."
I wrote it down and suddenly he began to walk forward, his figure heading for the flames. My eyes widened and I reached out for him, calling his name. The doors burst open but I ignored the calls of Master as I followed Pete into the flames.
Suddenly, burning and pain filled me as my vision blurred and I heard screams all around me. I began to lose conscienceness and I blacked out, Pete's emotionaless face staring at mine.
[Keenan's POV]
"Sir, we have an emergency!! Tori just walked into the flames!" Iris, Tori's lady maid, screamed.
I instantly stood up and ran with Iris to Tori's room. We burst into the door and instantly my heart broke at the sight of Tori. Her beautiful hair was singed and her body was burned, her clothes black. Iris changed her (I was in the bathroom) and I helped Iris wash her hair.
Some of the people we had do this job have done this before she fortunetly we know how to help the people. But it's unnerving thinking of Tori entering the flames. They are deadly and only for souls and the Devil's people.
We had fixed Tori up and her hair was smooth and beautiful, her skin clean and soft again. I pulled her into my arms and her eyes fluttered open at that instant. We both pulled away, taking my fathers warning.
"Um thanks Keenan."
"No problem. You actually owe it to Iris." I mumbled.
She thanked Iris and Iris left us alone. I stared at the blankets, not knowing how to look at Tori. I heard a knock at the door and Scorcha came in, pulling me out of the room.
"Keenan.." She said, dragging out my name making me cringe.
"Yes Scorcha?" I hissed.
Scorcha was my father and Banach's daughter. She was only related to me by my father and I hated her. We were total opposites. She lived for death and pain and blood where as I'd escape this hell hole at the first glimpse of hope. I sighed and she ran his long talons across my skin.
"Well daddy thinks you should stay away from Tori..." She said and stared at me with her obsidian eyes, matching my own.
"Yes and?" I asked annoyed.
"Well that's it. You have to stay away from her at all times. Daddy's orders."
She smirked at me and skipped away, a trail of blood following after her footsteps. I growled in frustration and looked at her door room. No Tori? I don't think so.
