The seven of them were all crammed into the mini van, Heidi and Laine in the front seat, Addy, Tristan and Ben's 2 year old half sister Bailey next to them in the middle row. And finally, Ben and Andy in the very back.
The ride to the restaurant was quiet, except for a few random conversations Heidi would have with Laine. Once they got there, they waited for their table for a few minutes and then all sat down. Andy and Ben, of course, sat next to each other.
"So, Andy, what do you do?" Heidi asked, eyeing the boys suspiciously.
"Oh, I'm uhh, I'm the quarterback." He said awkwardly.
Addy was sitting across from Andy, and completely drooling over how hot he was. Every girl did want to be with him, after all.
"The quarterback, and you're friends with Ben here? Ha!" Laine laughed as if he couldn't believe it.
Ben rolled his eyes and looked down at the table.
"Well yeah, Ben's pretty cool." Andy said, patting Ben's back lightly.
"He's in theatre. Ben, you ought to take after your friend here and join football." Laine says.
Ben rolls his eyes again "No thanks, I'm good. I happen to like theatre, and I think I'm pretty good at it so..."
"Do you want people to think you're gay?" Laine snaps back.
"What's wrong with that huh?"
"What's wrong with people thinking you're gay? I won't have people thinking my son's a queer!" Laine bangs his fist on the table.
Addy looks up at her step dad "Can you chill out for a second? He didn't even say he was gay." She points out.
"He implied it!"
"No I didn't!" Ben says, feeling Andy grab his hand under the table.
"Ben? I think I left my phone in the car." Andy says, implying for Ben to come with him.
Ben nods and shoots his dad a glare, angrily walking out to the car with Andy.
"He's such an ass!" Ben shouts, Andy putting his hands on the shorter boy's shoulders to try and calm him down.
"Just deny it and you'll be fine. Until you're ready to tell him, at least." Andy said, pulling Ben into a hug right when Heidi walks out to join them.
"Ben, tell your father the truth. You're his son and he deserves to know." She says.
"Oh my God! Just stop talking! Every word that comes out of your mouth is offensive! You think that I like you but I never have, because you just assume things about me. Yes, I'm gay, and no! That does not give you the right to treat me like that's the only thing about me that matters!" Ben ranted, holding tightly onto Andy's shirt so he didn't lose his cool completely.
"I am your mother, you can't raise your voice at me!" Heidi says sternly.
"You aren't my mother! My actual mom loves me for my personality, not because Im gay!"
"Hey Ben? Do you want to go to my house? I think you need some time to cool off." Andy says quietly, his hand on Ben's back.
"Please. And Heidi, if you tell my dad that I'm gay, I swear to God I will never come back home ever again." Ben said, turning around to face Andy and starting to cry.
Ben was definitely more sensitive than Andy, so it wasn't a surprise when he started to cry. Andy grabbed Ben's hand tightly and started to walk back to Ben's house since it was only a few blocks down the street.
"Your dads sorta an ass."
Ben nodded "Yep."
