Monday at football practice, Andrew couldn't take his mind off of Ben. The boy's smile, freckled cheeks, and perfect blue eyes and light brown hair. His soft and round facial features to contrast Andrew's sharp and attractive features and dark brown hair, paired with his hazel eyes and clear skin.
Once practice was over, the out-of-breath-boys ran to the locker room. Well, most of them that is.
Andrew noticed a few of the boys missing so he decided to peek his head back out and look down the hallway for them. He saw a few of the large boys surrounding a smaller boy, who he assumed to be Ben.
Andrew ran over and pushed them out of the way right when a violent Danny shoved Ben hard into the wall. Andy turned to Danny and shoved him right back
"When will you learn that he's not doing anything to you!? Leave him alone!" Andrew demanded.
"I don't wanna catch his homo sickness." Danny snapped back, shoving Andrew as well.
Andy had enough of this bull crap and finally snapped, throwing a punch to Danny's gut, earning a huff from the buff boy as he stumbled backwards a little bit.
Andrew braced himself as Danny was getting ready to throw another punch, getting hit in the cheek right before coach ran out of his office.
"Hey! Break it up! You're teammates so start acting like it!" Coach yelled.
Andrew rubbed his cheek and gave Danny one last angry stare before Danny and the rest of the football players turned to go back to the locker room with coach.
Ben was almost at the point of tears because of the pain from getting shoved into the hard wall, and from getting kicked in the thigh earlier by another jock.
"Oh my god." Ben whispered, covering his face with his hands. "Why'd you do that for me?"
"It's not right, what they do to you." Andy said, bending down to help Ben stand up. He grabbed the other boy's hand lightly, and Ben looked up at the taller boy.
As soon as their hands touched, it felt like someone just set off fireworks.
It was like their hands were made to be held in each other's hands.
Andrew sat down on the ground and leaned his back against the wall next to Ben, hand in hand with the smaller boy.
"Will you come to my house? I want to see you more, Ben. I've been thinking about you since lunch today, I feel like we really have a connection."
Ben just nodded "me too. I've never had a real friend like you, Andy." he said quietly, moving his glance from Andrews cheek that was already starting to bruise, down to their connected hands. "Aren't you worried they'll see?"
"They're all in the locker room." Andrew whispered. "They'll never see. They'll never be able to see anything so right."~
Andrew and Ben walked to Andrews car hand in hand, standing closely to each other. Once they got in the car, Ben looked at Andrew.
"What is this?"
"What is what?"
"Us. What are we?"
Andrew looked down, and then back up at Ben. "We're friends."
Ben narrowed his eyebrows at Andrew "friends that hold hands?"
"I was comforting you. You needed a friend. I'm dating Ella."
Ben looked out the window "you have a girlfriend, but you're gay. That makes a lot of sense."
"Listen, Ben. I like what we have. We're friends, okay? And- and who knows what that'll grow to into. But for now, we're friends who knows that the other one is gay. And I need to know that you're okay with that, at least until I get my life figured out."
Ben nodded "Okay, yeah." He said, a little disappointed to hear all of that.
Andrew sighed and started the car. They drove to Andy's house in silence.
Once they had parked, Andrew walked Ben inside and upstairs to his room, sitting down on his bed.
Ben took a seat in Andrews desk chair.
"What does kissing a boy feel like?" Andrew asked out of nowhere, catching Ben by surprise a little.
"I-uhh, I dont know. I haven't had my first kiss yet?" He said, a bit embarrassed.
Andrew raised his eyebrows "Really?"
Ben nodded.
"Oh, wow, okay. That's unexpected." Andy mumbled.
Ben shrugged "I guess i'm just waiting for the right guy."
"Understandable, but I had my first kiss when I was 13." Andrew chuckled a bit.
"Andrew! How naughty!" Ben laughed.
Andrew shrugged, and the boys kept talking for hours about anything they could think of. They talked until Andrews mother knocked on his door to call him for dinner, oblivious to his guest.
Andrew walked downstairs, Ben close behind him.
"I should get going." Ben said to Andrew.
"Aw really? I wanted you to stay for dinner!" Andrew sighed, grabbing Ben's hands again, not thinking about what he was about to do.
Ben nodded "That's nice of you, but I should go home to my mom. We're having steak fingers tonight, it's our favorite momma and son meal. We watch Grease and eat 'em every Monday night." He said, smiling at Andrew.
Andy nodded "That's sweet. I wish I had a tradition with my family like that."
"It's not much." Ben laughed a bit.
Andrew stared at Ben's gorgeously perfect face, and started to slowly lean in closer.
Ben was internally screaming something along the lines of;
AHHHHHHHG!!
Andrew and Ben had barely any space between them, and what Ben had been hoping for all night, was about to come true he thought.
Right when Andrew got close enough, he pulled Ben into a hug. "Bye, Ben. I'll see you tomorrow. Thanks for keeping me company tonight."
Ben was caught a little off guard as he slowly wrapped his arms around Andrew into a light embrace.
"I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
