When you think of high school cheerleaders, what is the first thing that comes to mind? An all-girls squad cheering for the football team; right? Well in your school that might be correct but at my high school there are two male cheerleaders. Yes, you read that right, there are two male cheerleaders on my high school cheerleading squad. My best friend, James Marshall and I, Quinn Evens.

I've been on the cheer squad since my freshman year of high school. I tried out on a dare and I've been on the squad ever since. Freshman and sophomore years I was the only male but junior year, James decided to try out as well and he made the team. I was beyond happy that he was on the squad with me. I'm openly gay and James is as straight as an arrow.

Why the cheerleading squad you might ask. Well, come on not only can I cheer and help my female teammates perform stunts, I can have a front row sideline ticket for every game to see my crush up close. James is on the team because he's my best friend and he wants to be on a team with me but he thought it would be a sure way to obtain a girlfriend, which did happen last year. He's dating a fellow cheerleader, Darcie, she's sweet, nice and everything that James wants in a girlfriend.

We start practicing for the football season in the beginning of August of every year and the season goes until mid-October if the football team doesn't make playoffs. If they make playoffs then the season goes until the beginning of November. The football team has gone to playoffs twice since my freshman year; my sophomore and junior years.

Yes, I am bullied and harassed regularly for being a gay male cheerleader and James does not because he isn't gay. Not that I want my best friend to be bullied for this. My bullying usually consists of verbal abuse nothing physical thus far and I hope I make it through my last year with no physical bullying. I can ignore the verbal.

I guess I should introduce myself more. My full name is Quinn Michael Evens; I'm 17 years almost 18 years old. I'm openly gay, I'm one of only few who are out, which I can understand, there are many homophobic assholes that attend this school and that live in this town. I'm pretty short for a guy, I'm only 5 feet 7 inches tall and I have 'emo' styled dyed dark brown hair with blond highlights and pale blue eyes and I also have a tongue ring that was pierced about four years ago.

I have an older brother, Cameron, who is a year older than me, he's in college. I also have three younger siblings, two sisters and a brother. My sisters are Gabby, who's 15 years old and Cara, who's 14 years old.

The four of us older kids are all biological siblings who were adopted when we were little by our two mom's, Lilly and Laura when I was four years old, Cam was five years old, Gabby was two years and Cara was one years old. Our biological parents were killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. We have a younger brother who is our mom, Laura's biological child through Invetro. Charlie, our little brother is four years old and he's a handful but so adorable.

Today is Monday, the first day of senior year. Bring on the year I'm ready to be done with this chapter of my life and move on the next chapter.

"Breakfast is ready," my mama, Lilly hollers from the kitchen of our two story home. Mama and Mommy (Mom) have lived in this home for the last fifteen years. Mom is a pharmacist and mama owns and operates a modeling agency.

The house is huge in my opinion. It's a five bedroom, three and a half bathrooms, two stories with a basement and an attic with small front yard and a huge fenced in back yard. Cameron's bedroom is in the basement, mine is in the attic, Gabby, Cara and Charlie's bedrooms are on the top floor below the attic and mama and mommy's room is on the main floor. There is a bathroom on the main level and the top floor and the half bathroom is in the basement and a master bathroom in my parents room. I use the bathroom that my sisters and Charlie use.
