chapter 17

OWENS POV
I was sitting next to Megan on the plane. She let me have the window seat and she sat in the middle. I was starting to freak out but I didn't want Megan to freak out. I texted Amelia that I was on the plane and she said ok and not to freak out. Megan plugged in her earbuds and offered me one. I declined and resulted to looking out the window. I texted Amelia one last time and told her we were going to take off soon. The plane went up and I didn't freak out for Megan because I know she doesn't like planes either. She put her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes. I leaned my head on the plane wall and closed my eyes as well.
AMELIAS POV
Last I heard from Owen he was taking off soon. I always get anxious when people fly or I fly it's just a fear. I'm just hoping him and Megan are safe. Liz, Derek, and my mom were watching a movie in the living room, and Kathleen was out with Joey. I sat down next to my mom on the couch and she put her arm around me. She knew how I felt about flying and planes.
"Hey how are you doing?" She asked.
"I'm okay," I said, "what are you guys watching?"
"The maze runner," Derek said.
"Which one," I said.
"The first one the other ones are shit," he said.
"So do we all just curse now?" My mother said.
"Yeah pretty much," Liz said. Derek and I laughed.
"Oh my god I remember this one time Amelia said fuck when you weren't home and she got so scared that I was gonna tell you," Derek laughed.
"Shut up," I said.
"It was so funny," Derek laughed.
"When was this?" My mom asked.
"Oh she was deadass like twelve," Derek said.
"Amelia!" My mom said.
"Mom its a part of life," I laughed and leaned into her.
"I guess so," My mom said.
"Hey Amelia how's Owen?" Liz asked.
"Mm he's doing alright," I said.
"Is he up in the air now?" Liz asked.
"Yeah," I said.

I guess I fell asleep on the couch because I woke up to my phone ringing. I picked up my phone and it was Owen, it was close to 2am which means he landed.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey, I'm safe I landed," he said.
"Okay I'm glad," I said, "thank you for calling me."
"You're welcome," he said, "I'll call you again later get some sleep."
"Okay," I said and practically fell asleep with him on the line.
OWENS POV
Megan and I grabbed our suitcases and we were walking out of the baggage claim. We saw our mom waiting for us. We both walked up to her and hugged her tightly. She looked like she hadn't slept in days, she looked exhausted.
"I love you guys," she said.
"We love you too," Megan and I said.

We got back to my uncles house around 6am. I was so tired and so was Megan. I looked at my phone and knew Amelia was asleep. I plugged my phone in and Megan went upstairs to sleep. My uncle went back to bed and it was just my mom and me.
"Hey how have you been? Was Megan good?" My mom asked.
"Mom She was fine," I said, "how are you doing is the more important question."
"I'm okay," she said, "how's Amelia?"
"She's good," I said.
"Megan told me she spent the night," she said.
"Damn Megan never lets me get away with anything," I chuckled.
"Owen you're not in trouble I was just saying," she said.
"Okay," I said, "I like her a lot."
"I can tell," she said, "she makes you happy."
"Yeah," I said.
"Get some sleep," she said, "it's going to be a long day."
"Alright, Goodnight," I said, "i love you."
"I love you too," She said. I grabbed my phone and walked upstairs into a guest bedroom. I plugged my phone in there and climbed into bed.
AMELIAS POV
I woke up to my family talking in the kitchen. I found my phone on the floor and picked it up, it was 12pm. I yawned and got up and walked into the kitchen. I sent Owen a text message and sat down next to my mom at the kitchen table. They were all eating lunch.
"Someone was tired," My mom chuckled.
"Yeah," I said.
"Amelia you fell asleep within the first 40 minutes of the movie," Derek laughed.
"Oh well," I laughed, "the movies are shit anyway."
"No, only the second and third one," Derek said.
"Whatever," I chuckled. Liz and Kathleen both looked up from their phones.
"Joey and Chris are here mom we'll be back before dinner," Kathleen said.
"Who is Chris?" My mom said, "where are you going?"
"Chris is Joey's younger brother, and we're going to the mall," Liz said.
"Okay Have fun," My mom said, "be safe."
"Okay," they both said. They left and my mom looked at Derek and I.
"If Kathleen comes home drunk one more time I'm killing her," My mom said.
"Do you want me to talk to her?" Derek said.
"Sure if you want," My mom said, "I've already yelled at her millions of times." I looked down at my phone and I had a text from Owen, can you FaceTime?💜 I replied back yes and got up and walked upstairs. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and called him.
"Hey," I said as it connected.
"Hey i miss you," He said clearly upset.
"I miss you too," I said. He looked really upset and I just wanted to hug him.
"I really wish you were here," He said.
"Me too," I said, "I really want to hug you right now."
"I think I'm coming home Monday," he said, "the wake is tonight and the funeral is tomorrow."
"Okay," I said, "how's your mom and family?"
"Everyone is really sad," he said, "reminds me of when my dad died."
"I'm sorry," I said.
"Thanks," He said, "I miss you so much."
"I miss you too," I said. My bedroom door opened and I looked up. My mom saw I was on the phone and knew it was Owen. She gave me a sympathetic smile and closed the door.
"Hey you still there?" Owen asked.
"Yeah," I said, "I'm still here."
"Amelia I love you," Owen said. I smiled and couldn't stop smiling.
"Owen I love you too," I said.
