Two weeks, two weeks of the cold shoulder. All I would get was an occasional hi when we were in a group, it was really getting old. I had taken up shenanigans with Chris in the mean time. After the day the two of us had sparring match down by the waterfront and got caught we decided to make a game of it, see how long we could be in public before anyone would notice.
I started watching social media, fans were going crazy trying to find Chris Pine in Portland. We branched out, going to cities in the Portland Metro area, it helped keep my mind busy but I was really missing my morning coffee buddy.
One morning I worked up the nerve to try and talk to him since I figured he wasn't going to come to me. With extra coffee in hand I walked over to his trailer before make up and wardrobe. I bit down on my lip as I inhaled deeply, don't run, don't run, I knocked on his door.
I could hear shuffling on the other side, before the door unlatched and swung opened. Karl looked down me, he was shirtless and I nearly dropped one of the coffees. Not that I hadn't seen him shirtless, but that does make my brain stop working. I thrusted the coffee at him, while trying to form a coherent sentence to go with it.
"Morning Karl." I said, sounding like a timid child.
"Renee?" He questioned taking a step down down on the small stairs pulling the door shut behind him.
"I'd say a peace offering but it's not like we're at war or anything." I remarked, waiting for him to take the cup from me.
"Why?" He asked, not moving or making an attempt to grab the cup.
"Cause I miss talking you, hanging out with you." I told him looking down at the ground, towing the dirk with my shoe.
"Looks like you found a new buddy, Renee."
"What?" I asked, my face knotted up.
"You two are always together, tons of pictures of the two of you." He replied, I could feel my heart sink a bit further. This wasn't how imagined this conversation going, not that I was hoping for much out of it, at least one where he talk to me again.
"Seriously?" I scoffed at him. "What else am I supposed to do? Sulk around on set cause you won't even say two words to me that isn't scripted."
"You have no reason to sulk around." His word took an icy tone to them. He opened his mouth to say more when door behind opened, a cute blonde popped her head out.
"You know what, Karl, forget it." I stated harshly, turning on my heel, storming off. I don't know what I was expecting, us to go back to the joking and flirting, I was just not expecting to see that he had entertained some blonde.
I stormed into make up, trying to find my calm happy place. Quickly sending my sister a text that I would be bring home a bottle of wine tonight and we were going to binge watch the avengers cause dear lord I need a distraction.
My phone lit up almost as soon as I tossed it on the counter in front me. I watched as the scene lit up again, I leaned forward and saw they were from Karl.
Karl: look, sorry about this morning.
Karl: I'll see you on set.
I rolled my eyes, not bothering to respond to him, as soon as they were done with me I went to wardrobe to put on my torn up uniform. I remembered today most of my shots were with Karl this time. I had to fight him while I was brainwashed by the evil and domineering Loki, I mean Tom, I meant bad guy.
I stepped onto set, Karl was joking with one of the extras. I glared at him as Tom approached me.
"You do realize that the cameras aren't on right?" He asked, I shot him a glare and he held his hands up defensively. "I come as a friend, you need not to kill me with your looks."
"I think I'm going to take up method acting." I tried to smile sweet at him.
"That should be a joy, tell me, are to going to actually kill Karl then? Cause you certainly look like you want to."He stated, hooking his head in his direction as the director called for us to begin.
"Wasn't that part of the dastardly plan?" I grin as I back towards were they wanted me.
I got into place, every muscle tight with my back to Karl. I heard him call my characters name, slowly I looked over my shoulder at him. Mr. Smooth as Whiskey, he was rambling his lines like he was supposed to, this was the lead up to our fight scene that we hadn't practiced as much as we should of. Hopefully he is good on his feet, and could remember the fight.
I sprang from my spot, kicking out at him, he dodged it perfectly. I threw the torrent of strikes, and kicks while he blocked and dodged. That was till I felt my foot connect with his face, a loud cut was yelled as Karl fell back to the ground. I wish I could say I held me resolve not to check on him, that I played it off cool.
I dropped to my knees next to him, panic coursing through me. He held his hand over his face, mumbling a string of cuss words under his breath.
"Shit! Karl are you okay? Of course your not okay I just kicked you in the face. Seriously I didn't mean to, I meant yeah I thought it would be funny but I didn't mean it." I jumbled my words, he looked up at me over the tips of his finders narrowing his eyes.
"You sure about that?" He grumbled, his words hurt alittle.
"Positive." I growled, standing up, not bothering to offer any help up. He recovered and we started over. Each time messing it up the worse then the last time. If it wasn't me making a mess of things it was him, which pissed off the director even more. Finally they called it quits, realizing we weren't getting anywhere with this.
All I wanted was to stare at Captain A Cup and drown myself with a bottle of wine. Drool over his Star Spangled Ass in that tight uniform while Mr. Thick Thigh Barnes attempted to kill him. The finer things in life, my friends, the fine things.
"Renee! Karl!" I heard the director yell at the top his lungs. I tilted my head back and groaned loudly, there goes me watching eye candy. Karl, spotting a newly forming black eye and busted lip walked over with me to the director. "The two of you need to fix this scene by tomorrow. I don't care what's gotten into either of you, or what happened just fix it!"
Me and him, stuck in a room. Wonderful.
