I slowly unbuckled my belt as we neared the road the gym was on. I get it, this should be easy, yes I like Karl, and yes he had asked me out at one point. That wasn't going to stop me from running like the idiot I am. I think we can say I've established how much I fear telling someone know my true feelings and my avoidance of these types of conversations.
Also me being true to myself absolutely hates being forced to something when I don't want to do it. Regardless of what that was, I would fight tooth and nail. A habit I've had my whole life, that has gotten me into more problems then I care to admit.
I was like a cat, it had to be on my terms, and my terms alone.
"You're seriously going to run, you do remember I can out run you." He stated, glancing over in my direction, I placed my hand on the door handle. "Please don't tell me you plan on jumping from a moving car."
"All I have to do is get to a bus stop, and I know where they all are." I quipped backed, wait till the car stops, or tuck and roll?
"And please tell me, how exactly are you going to pay?" He reminded me that I didn't have anything on me. No cell, no extra keys, no wallet.
"I'll figure that out when I get to that point." I snipped as we pulled into the parking lot.
That's when I spotted the familiar white car missing from my drive way. I could see my sisters smug little face, with her arms crossed. Murdered Rosalyn, that's being put in the day planner I don't yet. Mental note but day planner. Second step, head stone.
Next to her was Tom, bouncing on his heels, hands shoved into his pockets. Wonder how many fans would be out for blood if he conveniently went missing. No head stone for him, Willamette river instead. New strategy.
"I'd like to see you run." Chris beamed as he killed the engine on the rental. "Cause even if you could out run me, I know sure as hell you can't out run him."
"Nope, I got a new plan." I stated, leaning my head back against the head rest, crossing my arms. I took a deep breath.
"You think you're just going to sit there?" He asked, scrunching up his face, pulling the keys out of the ignition.
"Yep." I replied, giving him one last look.
"In the middle of summer?" He asked, opening the drivers side door. I looked forward again, ready to get nice and toasty.
"Yep, I was made for the heat." I pulled the lever reclining my seat back, putting my hands behind my head.
"Alright." He shut the car door and walked over to the other two.
I could see their conversation now, my sister would say let me guess, she's decided she's going to roast. Chris, yep. Tom, isn't it a tiny bit warm out for her to do that. Rosalyn that's my idiot sister for you. Rather roast then face any kind of conversation that might have to do with how she feels. Chris, how long till she gets out? Rosalyn, who knows, till she passes out and we have to drag her limp body out.
And most likely that's how this will play out, at least when the emt's show up I won't have to have any awkward conversations with anyone.
I let out a deep sigh as the heat in the car started to raise, I closed my eyes, thinking of anything but the three stooges standing less then ten feet away. You know, in most normal situations people would get out of the car and not get have heat stroke, all I gotta say is bring it on.
"You're a stubborn asshole." I heard my sister yell over to me. I brought my arm to where she could see me and gave her a thumbs up. Thanks for the compliment sis, cause that's really going to get my butt out of the car. Sweat slowly trickled down my chest as my forehead began to perspire. I breathed out, blowing down my chest in an attempt to cool myself down.
    Roasted Renee, sounds wonderful.
"Come on Ren, don't do this!" Chris yelled, I raised my hand and flipped him off. You're the one that drug me out here, you're the one thats going to have to deal with the outcome. Face it buddy, you picked the wrong chick to play this game, should of let me run.
Sweat continued to trickle down my body, I could feel Chris's shirt begin to stick to me. I bowed my head, trying not to focus on how hot the car was. It was getting hard not think about it, each inhale of air was warm and uncomfortable. Sweat dripped from my brow, darkening the shirt even further then it already was.
Suddenly the drivers side car door open, cool air waft over to me. It felt amazing as I took a sharp breath in, I looked over to see who had caved first. I was surprised to see Karl's soft eyes greeting me as he sat down in the seat, putting the keys into the ignition. There was a mischievous glint in his eye, one that I liked to see.
"I say we leave 'em, see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into." He stated, putting the car on, unrolling the windows. Cool air rushed in enveloping me fully, as I just stared at him. "What do you say, kid?"
"Sounds like a bad plan, I love it." I smirked at him, buckling my seat belt as he did the same.
Karl looked out my window, waving at the three mouskateers before reveing the car and pealing out, tires squealing in the process. I grasped the door as he did, grinning ear to ear as I heard Chris yelling.
