"Do you believe in Horoscopes?" Paige said as she lifted the cap off her friend's face.
"What?" Leslie groaned, he was taking a nap on his school's yard, his eyelashes fluttered as rays of sunlight shone on his face, adjusting to the sudden brightness.
"I said, do. you. believe. in. horoscopes." Paige pronounced every word extra clearly, as if she was talking to an elderly.
Leslie sighed in annoyance, "For the third time today, no I don't." He snatched his cap back from Paige's hand. "Now can I please sleep in peace?" He asked while placing his cap back on his face and shifted around for a bit.
"Come on! It's an emergency!" Paige picked up his cap and threw it as far as she can.
"Wh..? Really? Mrs. Gilmore's class is next, if I fail it because I was snoozing through her class, it's gonna be your fault." He sat up ruffling his hair, "now what is it this time?"
Seeing that she finally got him to talk, she started ranting excitingly. "So you remember this guy I told you about? The basketball team's leader?"
"Yes yes, of course, you literally talked about him to me 5 minutes ago." Leslie sighed as he remembered his rival, the dream guy every girl is wild about. He's got tanned skin, eyes as deep and as blue as the ocean, with a smile so dreamy you'd feel like you're in a lucid dream. There are much more about this guy but it would hurt him too much to admit that.
"So anyway, guess what I found out today. HE IS ACTUALLY A CANCER!!" Paige screamed in excitement.
Leslie was frustrated. "Did you wake me up just to tell me his zodiac sign? How does this affect anything?"
"IT AFFECTS EVERYTHING! See I'm a Pisces and you know who the most compatible is with Pisces? A Cancer!"
"Okay, first of all, horoscopes don't mean ANYTHING! How many times do I have to tell you this?" She was actually getting on his nerves right now, he had been in love with her since the very beginning, yet all she ever said was how compatible she was with Cancer or Sagittarius guys, sometimes he wishes he wasn't born a Libra. "Secondly, if horoscopes mean so much, how come you and I are friends?"
"I was talking about love compatibility, not friendship, get your facts straight." Paige rolled her eyes in irritation.
Leslie mumbled under his breath, "but there is a certain Libra waiting for you, he fits the rest of your requirements too..."
"What? I couldn't quite catch that." Paige's eyes glowed as she sees Conner, her Cancer crush, "well that's my cue, I'm going to ask him for his number. Wish me luck!"
Leslie let out a long, miserable sigh as Paige half-ran towards Conner, jumping a little bit as she went. "When will you throw away all these horoscopes superstitions and consider me seriously..."
It was Mrs. Gilmore's class, and Leslie couldn't have felt sleepier. He tried to keep his eyes open, he struggled and struggled to clear his mind, to focus on Mrs. Gilmore's lecture, but quite frankly it was impossible. Mrs. Gilmore's plain tone went straight through his ears, and he could only hear a faint voice that seemed to be coming from the distance. He kept dozing off and waking up, then dozed off again. Just when he decided to give up and fail this class, a sudden burst of laughter startled him, he looked for where the laughter came from and laid his gaze on an embarrassed Paige and a crowd of people laughing their heads off. He even shot a glance at Mrs. Gilmore and saw her sniggered for a bit.
When the school bell rang, Paige basically packed within a nanosecond and darted out of the classroom. Leslie ran out after her but she was gone, so he began searching for all the places she might be in, especially when she was unhappy.
He went to the cafeteria, she eats a lot when she is upset; he ran up and down the staircases, she sometimes sits there thinking about life; he ran to the library, she stuffs her head into books(especially horoscope related books) when she felt that there were too much going on for her. Yet she was nowhere to be found. He had only one last spot to check.
