I hadn't seen Luke or Ashton in three days.

Luke because he left to go on tour and Ashton because he had 'business' to handle.

So I sat alone in my bedroom.

There wasn't much to fill the void that loneliness had left me.

Sure, ice cream and Cheetos helped a bit.

My phone lit up from my bedside table with a text from Ashton telling me that he would be over soon and to unlock my window.

I had left it unlocked many nights ago so that I wouldn't have to push myself to the physical task.

I waited for almost a half hour until I heard him pulling himself up through my window.

I turned my cheek towards him, whispering a friendly greeting in his direction.

He looked rugged. His clothes had the faint smell of gasoline and cheap coffee. His hair was disheveled, sticking up in multiple angles.

I watched as he kicked off his boots, slouching on my bed with his legs crossed in front of him.

I hummed along to a tube while he sorted himself out.

"I haven't seen you. " I murmured quietly.

He gazed at me lazily. "I already told you; I had some work to do."

I sighed whilst nodding once. " I know." He didn't respond so I took it upon myself to keep going. "My surgery is in two days."

His expression turned to one of fear and sorrow. "I know."

I had told him previously the date of my surgery since I had hoped he would go in with me being as how Luke was gone.

He agreed immediately.

Ashton shuffled towards me until he was sat next to me, arm draped across my shoulder. I smiled down at my lap.

We sat in a comfortable silence for at least ten minutes.

"You know that this surgery is really dangerous for you, right?" He questioned innocently b

"Yeah, I know." I responded shortly.

I didn't really want to think about not living through the surgery because there was so much more that I wanted to say to my brother and family.

I don't think I would ever be satisfied enough with my current goodbyes or any goodbye at all.

"You know that I might not live through this, right?" I shot him a quick glance but lowered my head when I saw his face.

"I know." His voice cracked at the last syllable of know.

His thumb traced patterns on my cheek bone lightly.

I switched my attention on his hazel orbs. They were a little glassy, but beautiful as ever.

Both hands were cupped around my cheeks as he leaned. I forced my heart rate to stay the same but I knew it wanted to be hammering out of my chest.

Sparks ignited my whole body as his lips pressed to mine lightly. It wasn't hungry or needy like it had always been before.

"I don't want you to die, Hannah." He stated sadly, voice very breathy.

"I know."
