Chapter 8 - Summer

Luke was so happy to be with his Hannah, who's about to be his wife in less than 6 months. But Hannah has kept a secret from Luke, even though she was mad at him for keeping the secret that he got into the military. Hannah has just come home from a record deal signing. (Hannah) Luke, I'm home. Luke comes down the stairs to pick up his girl in his arms and spins her around. He puts her down back on her feet and kisses her. (Luke) Where have you been? I've been worried about you! (Hannah) I was at a recording studio! (Luke) What were you doing there? (Hannah) I've been keeping a secret from you! (Luke) What's your secret? (Hannah) I've been signed to a record company! (Luke) What record company? (Hannah) Big Machine Records. (Luke) That's great! But what's the secret? (Hannah) I'm moving to Nashville! (Luke) Wait what? You're moving to Nashville? (Hannah) Yes! (Luke) When? (Hannah) In 6 months! (Luke) Wait a sec. Our wedding is in 6 months. How could you? (Hannah) You're always focused on your music and focusing on military crap, so why not focus on my music! (Luke) Yes but I always have time to be with you. This is the summer before college. (Hannah) I'm moving all the way to New York for Julliard and then after Julliard, I'm moving to Nashville to go to Big Machine Records to talk about what the next step of my music process is gonna be. (Luke) We gotta spend this summer together until August. But I want you to be in my arms until the end of summer.  I love you, Hannah! (Hannah) I love you too, Luke!

2 months later. It's 11:30 pm. It's August 23rd and Hannah has to be in New York by the 25th so she can get settled in before school starts in September. They have a long hug. (Luke) Promise me that you'll come back to me during the holidays, spring break and summer. (Hannah) I promise! You're never ever far away from my mind! You're right there the very first one before anything else. I fell in love with you 3 years ago and you'll be the only star I see at night! I gotta go! I gotta drive myself to the airpor------- Luke interrupts her with his kiss. (Luke) Let me drive you. (Hannah) Are you serious? Luke, you have to be in the studio tomorrow and you're gonna be tired. (Luke) I don't care! You come before the music. You're my number one priority! Hannah thought that was crazy. She always learned that she puts herself first before anyone else. (Hannah) Aren't you your number one priority? (Luke) What you mean? (Hannah) I mean, when I was 7 years old, I was always learned that I put myself first before anyone else. (Luke) That's what I'm gonna stick with, but I'm putting you before myself! You'll always be my number one priority! (Hannah) Can we go? (Luke) Yeah, of course.

25 minutes later. Luke and Hannah are at the airport. Luke and Hannah are by the airport terminal waiting for Hannah's flight to be called. Luke holds her, with his arms around her neck, Hannah's arms around Luke's waist and Hannah hugs Luke, in his chest. (Luke) Don't cry, Hannah! Please, baby! You're gonna make me cry within 15 seconds. I don't know what I'm gonna do without you here for the next 8-9 months, but I have my music to focus on. Don't forget about who you are, what you're representing, if a guy talks to you, walk away because he's gonna take what's mine and what has been mine for 3 years.

Remind yourself what you are doing there - Getting an education + focusing on your music

Letting guys take you away from your boyfriend back in Montana!

(Hannah) Thanks for that list, Luke! (Luke) I just hope that you remember that you still love me. (Hannah) Luke, of course I'll still love you! Are you crazy?

The P.A. announcer announces the flight that's about to leave, which is Hannah's flight. (P.A. Announcer) Flight 239 to New York from Montana, is about to depart. Will all the passengers who have not got on the plane, please get on the plane, before it is too late? (Hannah) Guess this is it. (Luke) Come here, baby! Luke kisses her passionately. Luke + Hannah separate. (Luke) I love you so much, Hannah! (Hannah) I love you too, Luke! See you during spring break! Hannah runs to the door, gives her plane ticket to the woman, who was standing at the door, goes into the terminal and walks to her plane. The woman closes the door and Hannah's plane takes off. Luke doesn't see his girl for 8 months!
