You admired him. Always had. It didn't change when he became your friend, your mentor and roommate. Hoseok was always there for you, laughing, smiling, and affectionate.

That you liked him more than as a friend was something you'd hidden for long. Hid it behind sharp and witty banter and jokes, hid it behind your general attitude and quick tongue.

So it hit you hard when he came running to you, holding hands with a girl and beaming. Your knees felt weak when he introduced her to you - Myung, his new girlfriend.

Myung was so sweet and kind, so pretty and so talented that you simply couldn't bring yourself to hate her. She didn't deserve it, and she really loved Hoseok. You saw it in the way she smiled at him, the way her eyes glowed when he said something to her.

And he loved her too. He smiled and kissed her, twirled her around and made her laugh. She made him happy and he her, and they both deserved it.

But it didn't stop you from excusing yourself to the dressing rooms, where you sat right now, stifling tears. You hated the fact that you couldn't hate her, feelings building up inside you, mainly guilt.

You hated the fact you couldn't bring yourself to ask him out before, you hated the fact that you wanted to dislike Myung. You didn't want to be like this, bitter and distant.

Your hands tore out your notebook, grabbing the pencil and setting it down onto the paper. Your method to cope with these kinds of things was to write it all up, in some form or another, just to let it out so it didn't eat you up inside and make you bitter.

You titled it: "Dear Hoseok", a letter he should never read. When you finished, you closed the notebook and put it back into your bag. Everyone knew not to touch your writing, so you felt safe.

Drying your tears, you put on a smile and headed back to the dance lesson, not letting your heart be torn apart as you watched Myung and Hoseok enjoy their time.

You wanted to be a good friend to him, because he deserved it. He deserved happiness, and if you got a little hurt in the process, so be it.

It was a week later, and you were talking lively to Hoseok, laughing and smiling like usual. He was grinning widely, leaning against the locker next to you, and you couldn't help staring at him.

He was beautiful, his echoing laughter, his wide smile, it all just made your heart ache.

And just as you went to hug him to say a quick goodbye before leaving for your next class, someone pulled him away from you.

Myung smiled up at Hoseok, clinging to his arm and only giving you a glance. He cooed, kissing her forehead, and asking her about her day, you instantly forgotten.

You took a step back, hurt from the sight. Quickly, so they didn't notice, you mumbled something about classes and turned away. Myung's eyes burned on your back, so you bit your lip, speeding up your steps.

You'd just finished the choreo, sweating and with your breathing going heavy, when clapping resounded from the door.

Hoseok leaned in the frame, in a tank top and with a warm smile on his lips. Your heart sped up, but you laughed in embarrassment to cover it up. He grinned, coming closer.

After complimenting you on your improvement, he asked you if you were up for a duet for the next show. You nodded, inquiring with whom. He smiled and said with him, and your stomach dropped.
