I wanna break these walls

August Harp

Three weeks had past after I had left the institution. It had been hard to say goodbye to the boys, Niall especially, but I had to but my brave face on for the sake of everyone, myself included.

My dad hasn't been too terrible with me, at least, not terrible as I had expected. I tried to avoid him most of the time, unless he would nag for me to clean something or to bring him beer and cigarettes.

I missed Niall so terribly. As stupid and cliche as it sounds, my heart ached for that boy.

The most dreadful thing is, I had no form of communication with him. My cell phone has been confiscated from me when I had been taken into the institution, same with my laptop. He had given me his phone number and private email address. I haven't contacted him since I left. I was beginning to wonder if he had forgotten about me?..

He probably has, I was nothing special. Just a mere, average ex drug addict with a sob story.

Good news was that Sam would be coming back home soon. A couple days to be exact. I haven't seen him in forever, I missed him so much. He always knew just what to say and frankly, I really just needed my older brother with me at this time.

Niall Horan

Three weeks. Three weeks had passed after I'd last seen August.

The fact that I basically had to wait for her to contact me first wanted me to rip Harry's dumb bandana from his head.

I knew that I should've tried harder to keep her stay at the institution longer. She didn't really open up to me much about her past, but I knew enough to realize that her staying with her father is the worst possible idea.

I needed to contact her, find her, just to know that she was still alive and breathing is all I needed to know. I paced around the hotel room, thinking of ideas. I had asked Meg, August's advisor or whatever, if she could give me any information so I could get a hold of August, but sadly, according to the building's 'policy', no personal information about any patients could be handed out to 'strangers'.

Which was total bull shit.

I had called management about a million times, practically yelling into the voice mail of each employee I had in my contacts, telling them to call me back. About a third of them did, and I politely told them that I needed them to look up an August Harp and to find me an address or something that I could use to reach her.

Even if I could finally see her face again, I had no idea in hell what I would do. I couldn't just steal her away, her dad would probably file some case against it and I know that management would get mine if I did anything to ruin my 'image'.

"Hey, mate." Harry's voice interrupted my thoughts. I offered him a quick smile then got back to my thoughts, all of which August was in.

"We'll find her, don't worry." Harry gave me a weak smile and a pat on the back as he walked into the bathroom. Ever since we parted ways from August, the boys have all looked at me differently. You could practically grab the pity out of their eyes.

Groaning, I ran my fingers through my hair. I cared for August so much, in the little time we had spent together, I have grown feelings for hair and I couldn't get her out of my mind. I can't just leave her with her father, who knows what he'll do to her. But, if I can't find any information about her, the reunion I have imagined for these three weeks will vanish.

Then, I remembered something.

August had a brother. An older brother to be exact, a brother in college! I believe she said University of Alabama on a sports scholarship. Maybe if I could reach the university and find out some things about her brother, it would get me closer to her!

I reached across the bed to get my laptop sitting on a nightstand. I googled the University of Alabama and quickly scanned the page until I reached a number. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and dialed it quickly.

It rang three times until a voice answered.

I told the monotone voice of a woman's that I needed to contact Sam Harp? I hope that is his name. I told her that he was on a sports scholarship there and that I was a relative and needed to talk to him quickly. The lady through the speaker paused for a moment, obviously skeptical about this whole thing, since my accent basically was right on the line before sighing and telling me to "hold on".

After a minute or two, she finally came back to me.

"He left." she said tiredly. "He's gone back home and took the rest of the semester off." Damn, now what do I do?

"Can I have his address? A phone number? Anything?" I asked frantically.

"I'm sorry sir, but I'm afraid I'm not permitted to give away any of that information."

"Please!" I begged into the line. I was beginning to lose hope. "This is an actual emergency and if I don't reach him soon!.." I trailed off.

"I'm sorry, but there's nothing else I can tell you. You'd have to speak to the dean or someone from here if you need more."

I sighed. "Okay, thanks for your help." I hung up. I threw my phone on the ground and closed my eyes. Well, that didn't go well.

"Everything alright, mate?" Harry asked me, coming out of the bathroom topless.

"Nope." I answered.

"Who were you on the phone with?"

"The University of Alabama." I laid back against the mattress. "I was trying to get a hold of August's brother there, but he left, took a semester off."

Harry raised his eyebrow. "A whole semester.?" I nodded. "Americans these days." He chuckled.

"You're telling me." I muttered, covering my face with a pillow.

"You've grown quite attached to her, haven't you?" Harry mused,

"More than you know." I answered him.

"Well, I'll let you know if I find anything else out, just don't stress yourself out about this too much. Get some rest." Harry gave me a sympathetic smile and left the room.

He was right. I should just rest right now, let my mind chill out for a couple of hours. Then, I could get back to all of this. I did have a tendency of freaking out more than I should.

Just as I felt I was drifting off to sleep, my phone rang. What now?

"Hello?" I mumbled into the speaker, not checking who was calling.

"Niall, it's me. I have some stuff I need to tell you...It's about August."

I was certainly awake now.

OMG I'M SO SORRY for the extended wait haha. I promise now that I'm catching up with this story.

I've been rereading it and decided to make some editing after I finish it because omg it was really crappy lol.

But thank you so much if you kept this in your library, it means the world:)
